This is one of a series of pictures I took in North Queensland last year whilst visiting my mum. To the best of my knowledge, Harlequin Bugs are a variety of Shield Bug.

They are gorgeous - like miniature stained glass windows! Smile
Yes! Actually, the big one in the middle reminds me a bit of Flardox's avatar too. Smile
Here's another one.

Wow!! I have never seen such beautiful beetles.I saw a very small spider once that was light green with soft blue markings and white legs and I could see it's little black eyes.I wish I had a camera that day it was the cutest little thing and so pretty.I could not find anything like it in books on spiders.
I am curious.  how large are they size wise?
Ah, they are just about the same size as they appear in the pictures.
Those are the most awesome bugs I've ever seen. Are they really as colorful as they are in the photos? I'll try to do a bit of research on them. Thank you for sharing!
Oh yes, they are every bit as colourful as in the pictures. I also saw some similar bugs on another type of tree up here but didn't have my camera with me. These other ones were smaller, longer in the body, and metallic green and orange.
