Thanks for clarifying that! I'd heard from different sources about Autism Speaks *not* hiring autistics, *not* having any autistics in leadership positions, and *not* allowing autistic people to speak at their events. All things considered - the way that Portia Iverson (founder of Cure Autism Now/Autism Speaks) depicts us in "Strange Son", just as an example - it's *not* hard to believe.
Autism Speaks *doesn't* go out of their way to portray us in anything resembling a positive light; far from it! They show autistic children in the *worst* possible light (the "Autism Every Day" video is a good example) so they can get donations; what they choose to *not* realize is that what *they* show the public is what the public *believes* about autism!
I'm glad that AS is helping people with disabilities find jobs at Walgreen's; if *that* was what they promoted - actually *supporting* autistic people - we wouldn't have *half* the issues that we do with them!

Definately! I saw the Autism Every Day video and think its horrible they dont show any positive or neutral situations. Its a good stragedy to get money
