And what is this childish behavior aiming at accomplishing?

TheZach,
Ummmm... Pointing out that Autism Speaks is full of hypocrites?

  -BobB

Pointing it out in this method just makes you two look like assholes.  So if your not assholes please quit acting like it.

Hi TheZach.
Why do you care what others act like? It doesn't reflect on you.How would you get your point across that Autism Speaks IS full of hypocrites?

ThZach wrote
{It reflects on us all.

You get across the point they are hypocrits by stating the facts, not by this stupid childish behavior}

I have a feeling you really believe that what others say here reflects on all of us. But you tend to attack people  any time you don't like what they say.And rudely I might add.Name calling is childish too.Calling them A-holes was a bit harsh.

BobB and Tigger_The_Wing were just having fun. Personally I'd like to see pakrats idea posted too.
I would apply as they DO hire autistic people.

given that AS won't hire autistic people, why don't we all apply with them, and make a big deal about suing for discrimination when they refuse to hire us?

I think there may be a lot of misconceptions at AFF about what Autism Speaks does and doesn't do.I for one heard they do not hire Autistics. But that was here at AFF. I think they scare us when they depict us as 'trapped',and parents speak of killing there autistic children or want to look for ways to test the fetus so they can abort if it may be autistic.

I've heard they did hire autistic aduts but wasnt sure where I read that. Also, on seeing that they dont on AFF I emailed someone I know works for Autism Speaks she said they do hire autistic adults.  Smile She would know with attending meetings etc.

Not sure if anyone heard about Walgreens hiring 1/3 of its workforce as those with disabilities including autism, I think I saw it mentioned on here somewhere, but Autism Speaks is the organization behind that. They are even helping Walgreens open a new store in our area so it will create jobs.

I wasnt aware they were pro-cure until   I joined AFF. I thought they were primarily doing research to find causes. I do notice on their advertisements it does mention cures. So AFF is right on with that.

What you two idiots are doing is not "having fun" its just putting Autism Speaks on more solid ground because of your childish and foolish behavior.

You know, I've heard that *some* of us have no sense of humor...  Wink

Your childish behavior that results from your poor sence of humor actually gives Autism Speaks backers a reason to point and say look how those idiots behave.  They have done so more then once on there forums.

Don't worry, Bob - he will probably lighten up one day; after all, he is very young and probably going through an 'earnest' phase!

Eventually he will realise that huge organisations like that, and the rest of society for that matter, take absolutely no notice of small fry like us however passionate we are. It is only by poking fun at them that the rest of us don't lose heart.

TheZach - stay passionate! Don't mind two old cynics like us!

You do realize that by poking fun in such an idiotic way you are causing more problems for people that are against Autism Speaks then good?

Thanks Tigger,I needed that.:]

Breeze,
Thanks for clarifying that! I'd heard from different sources about Autism Speaks *not* hiring autistics, *not* having any autistics in leadership positions, and *not* allowing autistic people to speak at their events. All things considered - the way that Portia Iverson (founder of Cure Autism Now/Autism Speaks) depicts us in "Strange Son", just as an example - it's *not* hard to believe.

Autism Speaks *doesn't* go out of their way to portray us in anything resembling a positive light; far from it! They show autistic children in the *worst* possible light (the "Autism Every Day" video is a good example) so they can get donations; what they choose to *not* realize is that what *they* show the public is what the public *believes* about autism!

I'm glad that AS is helping people with disabilities find jobs at Walgreen's; if *that* was what they promoted - actually *supporting* autistic people - we wouldn't have *half* the issues that we do with them!  Smile

Oops...

Sorry, TheZach, if you are being sarcastic; I didn't realise we had said anything homophobic. There are a lot of gay people besides you in AFF, and homophobia is not tolerated in the least, so I hope you feel comfortable here.

Just because I am using the word 'gay' does not mean I am refering to it in that context.  According to the dictionary gay can be used in the following contexts:

Code:
cheery: bright and pleasant; promoting a feeling of cheer; "a cheery hello"; "a gay sunny room"; "a sunny smile"
full of or showing high-spirited merriment; "when hearts were young and gay"; "a poet could not but be gay, in such a jocund company"- Wordsworth; "the jolly crowd at the reunion"; "jolly old Saint Nick"; "a jovial old gentleman"; "have a merry Christmas"; "peals of merry laughter"; "a mirthful ...
given to social pleasures often including dissipation; "led a gay Bohemian life"; "a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies"
brave: brightly colored and showy; "girls decked out in brave new dresses"; "brave banners flying"; "`braw' is a Scottish word"; "a dress a bit too gay for her years"; "birds with gay plumage"
offering fun and gaiety; "a festive (or festal) occasion"; "gay and exciting night life"; "a merry evening"
homosexual: someone who practices homosexuality; having a sexual attraction to persons of the same sex
homosexual or arousing homosexual desires

Or in this conext I could be refering to the stupidity of this thread.  In this conext I am refering to the obnoixous carefree attitude in here.  If anyone that is homosexual is offended I suggest you read a dictionary.

Then I request the people that are posting matters of fecal matter get a warning too.
There revolting and disturbing.  In order to view such things in a movie you would have to be 18.

TheZach,
But not in a childrens' book...  Big Grin

  -BobB

Seeing as were using childrens book for a reference of standards of whats acceptable heres a childrens book that supports the treatment germans did to jews in WWII

or this one that promotes racism

So is it acceptable for me to be racist on here or promote the persecution of jews like they did in WWII?  I think not.
