GLIMPSE is a new publication from ICDL that showcases the unique perspective contained in the writings and artwork of individuals with a history of autism and other developmental disabilities. We are seeking poetry, essays, reflections, short stories, photography, and two-dimensional artwork on any subject, so that we may gain a GLIMPSE into the rich inner life of these individuals. We are seeking work from individuals of all ages.
The 2007 issue of GLIMPSE is available online. Future issues will be published on the ICDL website and hard copies will be available for purchase. Current plans call for annual issues.
Submissions may be accepted, rejected, or accepted with editorial changes. Pieces may be held for possible inclusion in later editions. Pieces may not have been published elsewhere, unless you have secured written permission for reprinting. Final decision about inclusion in the magazine will fall to the co-editors.
Editors: Lori Jeanne Peloquin, PhD. and Austin Retzlaff
Lori Jeanne is a clinical psychologist on the ICDL faculty and the mother of Austin, who has a history of autism spectrum disorder, but now carries no diagnosis and receives no special services.
Austin is 16 and is on the staff of the literary magazine at his high school. His goal is to be a writer, and he is currently working on a fantasy novel.
