I'm officially diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, and wonder if my lack of concentration is related to possible ADD.

Ethel

These days, officially dx with Aspergers and ADHD.

Previously, I've been "diagnosed" with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities) and just being a contrary scrag.  Smile
Official dx of AS.

Recently suggested to me by a professional that I was 'quite hyperactive' too Rolleyes

B
"traits similar to Aspergers Syndrome" (apparently Tongue)

And more recently a pattering of Discalculia.
Heh, I hear that :]

I think I get anxious at times too..nothing major of course.

Creasy

Offically diagnosed with Asperger's last year.
I attend Narcotics Anonymous because I'm an addict.(9 years clean)
And I've been on anti-depressants (Lexapro) for about three years because my GP thought I was depressed and I agreed, but I'm only on small dose, 10mg per day.

Man I love AFF,  you can really let it all hang out. (so to speak)
Officially diagnosed (but not always recognised by all medical professionals):
Asperger Syndrome
Generalised Anxiety Disorder
Clinical Depression
Social Phobias

I also have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), made worse by wheat-based foods.

As others have said, it is interesting how many that have AS also have either depression and/or anxiety problems, as well as food allergies/ food intolerances.
Is it mentionable that I'm allergic to cashew nuts?
Officially diagnosed with Asperger's. I've made no attempt to self-diagnose myself with anything else (should I?).
How is an SSRI supposed to normalise dopamine levels? if they are too high, I would imagine an antipsychotic would be used (not saying should be, just probably would be, they are nasty drugs), if low, then some sort of DARI, I would guess.

Aliengirl, I get what you say about the mixed reuptake inhibitors, and similar drugs for that matter, I was given mirtazepine in prison, not strictly a reuptake inhibitor, but it acts to raise synaptic levels of NA and 5HT through alpha2 adrenoreceptors, I had to flush the lot after taking one dose, made me shake and twitch, and gave me severe 'restless legs syndrome', through my whole body, horrible stuff, although it seems to be most adrenergic drugs that do that to me, I feel like I'm already overly sensitive to my OWN adrenaline without any foreign *** getting pumped into my body, anyone else get that?
makes more sense then .
Was dxed AS when 13.

SSRIs do make my dyspraxia a lot worse though and they completely mess with my attention deficit issues and endocrine function - especially my liver funcion.

SSRIs of all things screw up your liver function?  That is not good news for me.

I have AS, and I was an alcohol addict for a couple years.. we're talking hard liquor here, every night..  I just hope that my sobriety has reversed the damage by this point.. seeing as I will be getting a blood test soon and liver function is one of the tests..

I have been sober, essentially, for almost a year.

Anyone have any ideas?

How did you come across the new allergies diagnoses?  I am specifically asking about the nickel, as I have heard that I possibly am allergic to it as well.  Problems with jewelry and such.

I had a patch test done at the dermatology clinic at the hospital. I was principally interested in whether I was allergic to rubber, because I'd been suspended from giving blood on a suspicion of having a latex allergy
(see http://www.aspiesforfreedom.com/showthre...pid190661, "What's your blood group?" in "Genetic issues"). As it is, I'm allergic to a rubber additve, not natural rubber latex itself. It's standard procedure in a patch test (so the nurse told me) to test for the 40 most common allergens, although this "top 40" varies from country to country.
