I'm worried about my boss because he has been very sick on and off for the past several years but it seems to be getting worse. He has a chronic autoimmune condition but I never hear him complain and he has been very kind to all the people in my team.

You hear so much about bad bosses and I've had some but it seems so unfair that such a kind person has to be suffering in this way.
He was planning to work for a few more years but at this rate I don't know how he will go.

does he have lupus?

Ah no, it's Crohn's disease. There's no cure for it and usually the people with it have to have at least one operation to remove part of their bowel so it's a very unpleasant condition.
