Since the general direction of the concept is current going towards extensive tourism, I suggest that a major focus of the layout be a "tourist district", probably including the ever popular Museum, and the visiting housing (which, since it's our island, we can style a "hotel"). I think we'll need some sort of visitor center as well. This might be the entrance for tourists to the island.
Any thoughts?
I've been thinking about the tourism/visitor angle a bit. One idea might be to offer retreats for aspies who will have varied interests. One possiblity might be to have areas with arts and crafts/technology workshops together. Permanent residents would use them as workspaces and there could be associated studio/design spaces where visitors could maybe do their own thing? It would also be a place to showcase/sell whatever the permanent residents have created.
I think a visitor centre at the entrance would be a very good idea. It could include a scale model of the island and its history. It would also provide an opportunity and a place to register and welcome visitors.

register...
this brings us back round to the Security report that Ian is supposed to be doing.
are we doing to want visitors registered? yes
are we going to make them carry tags? perhaps
would we "tag" AS, HFA, LFA and NT visitors differently?
by "tags", I meant....something for the visitors, it was discussed in the main thread I think, to ensure the safety of the citizens.
that way, we can impose restrictions on people if they are abusive or aggressive; it would also allow us to monitor the overall movement of tourists within the settlement, and see where hot spots of people are occuring, allowing for avoidance of them.
The project no longer interests me.
ok.
Guess I'll write them then.
ya try and delegate....
I like the concept of the streets laid out by Luai, and I would like to add that I doubt "all" of the tourist destinations would be in one district. Just many of them. The idea of a simple branch design to prevent confusion appeals to me. There may be restrictions on how loud and bright the attractions on the main "tourist' street would be, or set some period of time (hours of the day, or entire days) where we would limit the enviromental distractions on that street. Is that a possible concept?
I'm concerned about this "tags" concept. I realize the need to ensure the safety of our citizens, and I have no real issue with some sort of "guest ID", but any further and it starts to seem very.....paranoid.

thats exactly what I mean.
something like an RFID tag that they carry about their person.
and yeah, I meant only for guests.
thats the thing; we literally have no idea.
at the moment, this is still a hypothesis.
and yes, we want to be using as little fossil and non renewable sources as possible; that way, we can be more autonomous
It would be nice to have a Tesla Tower.
Marty, if you want to write a short passage, just briefly explain what it is, why it would be a good thing, how we could tye it in, and wiether its more of a showy thing or a practical thing, then it'll go into the appropriate document (unless you want to branch off and write the power generation documents. up to you.)

It's a tower invented by the brilliant and very likely Aspie scientist Nikola Tesla. It would beam wireless electricity to everyone. Tesla was unable to complete this because no invester wanted to transmit free electricity to everyone.
