Good to see you posting Eoin.

I pray to God that Hillary doesn't get nominated. If I'm stuck between having to choose for Hillary or McCain, I'm leaving the country.

Seconded. Except, I'm going to be in college in the US at the time. So I might reluctantly stay.

(OT: On the TV they're showing a city in Japan called Obama, and apparently they're making a bunch of stuff having to do with candidate Obama.)

Of course no candidate would make sweeping changes to the political system, or any big kind of change like that. I just feel that, for the principle of the thing, there are some people I feel are particularly the greater of two or more evils. If it came down to it, I probably would vote McCain over Clinton, even though I'm usually pretty liberal (and not only because of what she's said about autism, BTW).

But this new bit of political ignorance/pandering just makes the lesser evil determination a bit too close for me to decide between Clinton and McCain.

(Interestingly enough, my history professor whose class I attend tonight worked for the Carter administration, I believe. His political philosophy seems mainly to be "they're all a bunch of clowns anyway" Smile)
First off - to everyone who says they'll leave the country if the choice is McCain or Clinton, just think about this for a moment.

Where would you go? Canada?

Anyone who the mercury militia has a go at is OK by me - and that's Hilary. Anyway - if I were an American, I'd vote Democrat no matter who it was. Get the Republicans out of the Whitehouse!

Here's an article which some of the wording may explain some of the hate being thrown about here against Hilary;

I don't think there's as much to worry about as some people think. The focus seems to be on help, so the dreaded "c" word (which was mentioned in the first paragraph) won't come into it. This is about research into the genetic link, and the big one - SUPPORT. I don't think any of us would argue with a better support network IRL would we?

Correction, we're the second hit.

I have always believed that one should respect their food.

I personally don't like beef very much, though once in awhile it appeals to me. I don't think I have steak any more than once every one or two years, though I eat chickens more. Also I feel that if I personally had to kill an animal for its meat to survive, that I would have an easier time emotionally killing a chicken than a cow.

I don't look at it as murder or genocide to kill animals, though of course cruelty is cruelty, and being cruel to animals before and during killing is disrespectful, which I disapprove of. If an animal is giving its life to help fuel yours, you should at least treat it respectfully.
An argument, how boring.
When people are scared enough, they can do amazingly unintelligent things.
Cuz the scare-mongery of vaccines is also scare-mongery of autism.
For some not.
Demonizing vaccines means that they present autism as something very bad, and a disappointment if you get a child with it.

Heard those parents who describe getting their child diagnosed as experiencing a death in the family?
I was always extremely calm and afraid of doing anything wrong compared to other kids.

I believe I was often left unsupervised at home at a very young age.

I know of a local mother who has three autistic children. Some people looked disapprovingly at her when she was shopping at a local supermarket because she had reins on all three. There was an article in the local paper about it. She said the reins were there because otherwise the children would run away and possibly get out onto the road and get hit by a car.

You can tell her that I was 'looked at disapprovingly' way back in the 'Eighties when I had three on reins too Sad. People thought they had the right to criticise, especially about the oldest; "Isn't he too old to be on reins?"

But I couldn't exactly abandon the two younger ones to chase after him when he ran - they would have run too. Bah! Tongue

Safety first and take no damn notice of stupid people.
