I do wonder whats the point of it all, sometimes.
I am so appauled!!

I know I am naive, but I thought these hate crimes were an american thing.
It's probably worse in England, when I think about it.
There was a murder in Sweden last year were a guy who was in a wheelchair was tortured in his apartment by some teenagers who went and chatted about it on the internet, then went back twice and continued the torture until the guy was dead.

The kind of sorry fucks that do these things are an international league of cowards.
There is a state by state listing of hate crimes by target group at http://www.statemaster.com/graph/cri_hat...y-related.
People in England are extremely prejudiced agains the disabled  - I witness this on a daily basis.

I'm not saying England is worse than anywhere else in this respect - I couldn't possibly know that as I have spent most of my life living here.

The laws really need to be tightened here. There need to be longer sentences for people who bully the disabled and this should also be classified as a hate crime.

At the moment, the Disability Discrimination Act leans towards the side of the discriminator / bully rather than helping those it is supposed to protect. And it is grossly biased towards physical disabilities.

I also think there needs to be better education in society to eliminate prejudice and if necessary compulsory psychological treatment for those who are particularly prejudiced.
I agree, it seems to be the prevailing attitude that the disabled are amusing targets round here.

What part of england are you from Aliengirl, I always thought you were from the other side of the pond.
