hey! good on that police force...but the article seemed kinda negative...
The story is from the HuffPost.....who also is one of the biggest pushers of the mercury theory. The headline is probably there to attract search engines and readers. That does'nt make the headline any less offensive.
It is helpful to be a Christian to properly understand that it is OK for a woman (or man) to wholeheartedly reject you and everything good you have to offer, because Jesus is doing the same thing and He has far more to offer.
a. you chose Jesus and you are saved
b. you know people don't choose you
c. you know people don't choose Jesus either
d. you know a person must be confused stupid insane or all of the above to reject the rescue of Jesus Christ
e. if they don't believe in Jesus Christ it makes sense they don't believe in what lies in you either
f. "their loss" applies in either case
Except that if other people do not accept me unconditionaly, I will not burn them alive. According to fundamentalist christianity, Jesus will burn us in Hell forever, if we reject Him as Lord and Saviour. So yeah, I'm not that much of a terrorist.
I also remind you that we Baptists believe you can know you are saved if you believe in Jesus you do. Peter could walk on water if he knew he could, when he doubted, he started drowning.
Yes.
I think the worshipping of Jesus with a genuine and thankful heart comes when we realize that Hell is real and we are not going there and Jesus is why we aren't going there.
It is hard to understand, I know, never having seen Hell. Our culture laughs about Hell because they think it doesn't exist.
Our American culture sent soldiers of King George sailing back to Britain. The idea of Jesus as King is kind of foreign.
The Bible says that you can not return from the dead.

27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
So you don't get a second chance.
So GuessWho, you say that we will burn if we do not accept the dominion of your god? What sort of insecure and petty deity would damn you for all eternity for not worshiping them? I would sooner burn than accept the dominion of your misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, and capriciously malevolent bully of a god.
I don't know, I didn't create Him.
He's not a cop, He's a lifeguard.
Back when I had the attitude problem with my Christian classmates in college (when it wasn't W, it was H.W., when it wasn't Operation Iraqi Freedom, it was Desert Shield/Desert Storm, but the economy also sucked), I appreciated the intelligence of my classmates who weren't Christians (or at least weren't Christian enough to evangelize). A nice long list of guys and girls like Curt, Steve, John, Julie, Rachael, Rebecca, Vicki..... Many of them were residence staff.
You can learn enough from friendship from the really mature folks on campus enough to fake it, enough to really care about people so that the right people will reciprocate
Eventually though, a bunch of separate Christians may get the opportunity to demonstrate the Holy Spirit in a way that challenges all your assumptions about "Christians" and God and makes you respect the power within God and genuine Christians, and maybe even make you one, too.
so, as someone who follows the teachings of a pre-Christian religion, does that apply to me?
I think the pantheon of gods might want a word with you...Yahweh too...
