I find the vaccine theory to be bothersome hysteria ruining newsforums.
People ruining newsforums are called trolls by the way.

I mean, they bring up the vaccine theory when it is TOTALLY unrelated.

No I'm refering to people commenting news articles in any way related to autism always shouting:
"IT WAS THE VACCINES"
Think a discussion about the vaccine theory was dominating the comments below an article about facilitated communication once.

Quite simply, the evidence so far says vaccines don't cause autism. Court cases can often be settled simply due to legal costs and not wanting to drag them on. What I do worry about is if there ever comes a point where someone successfully starts a class-action lawsuit against vaccine manufacturers and this then leads to people no longer giving vacinations. That would bring back a lot of killer diseases.

Wikipedia has two articles about the controversy of vaccines and autism, one devoted to the MMR controversty with Andrew Wakefield and peeps, and the other to thimerosal with David Kirby and the whole bunch of 'em.
They give a greater perspective that easily convince me even further to deny a link between autism and vaccines, but they don't devote much to other possible ways vaccines could somehow affect people are or will develop autistic.

I definately think children with autism react differently to the shots and can't excrete the metals in them. I do vaccinate my son still. I know many parents from my other group that stopped. I do agree its dangerous.
Where is it?
Where is the solid proof that supports your statement?
Isn't that the controversial study by Andrew Wakefiel?
He has received charges because of the manner he has performed the study and because he didn't disclose that he had been given £55,000 from advocates who sought evidence that could be used against vaccine manufacturers.
Do I have to say that it shouldn't be taken seriously?

Nah guess not, I just had seen it before and assumed it was it.

Timelord: Yes, got it. At least I posted a link to Kevin's response but it might not have got much attention.
Apparently David Kirby's news article has reached Norway and now people suddenly "come out" as vaccine theory believers - while obviously having no idea.

Think the article explains it all. My son developed "normally" till 18 months as his doctor observed through videos of him and then at 20 months regressed as well. He lost speech/ eye contact / responding to his name. I just got the article from my other group and thought perhaps some would find it interesting as I did.

HOW?!?!?!?
But don't the symptoms usually appear at around the 18 month mark?

Some says a combination of genetics and vaccines.
Many who've taken the vaccine and not become autistic you know, so the idea is that genes let the vaccines make you autistic.

... but I heard the other day that exposed mercury to the body by vaccines is not significant compared to other environmental daily factors.
Just something you might check up. Not much interested in this right now.

Think it's mercury in the thimerosal preservative.

Yeah, and I'm abit confused now as to whether or not the MMR vaccine ever has contained thimerosal. There's some sayings swaying back and forth "THIMEROSAL IN THE MMR VAX CAUSE AUTISM!!!" and "STFU THE MMR VAX NEVER CONTAINED THIMEROSAL CUZ IT'S A LIVE VIRUS VAX".
There was one blog post with the comment about the thimerosal and MMR theory believers - "Can they both be right?"
Just learnt that the controversy has two parts apparently, and there seems to be others who haven't learnt it too. The other day when I mentioned the thimerosal controversy on a norwegian news forum someone came up saying "Eh, you're wrong. The american government has just conceded the MMR autism link".
Ofcourse I brought him the latest news on it, but yet again they take things personal and attack me instead of my message...
