Hi,
I thought members here might be interested in this group.

Basically if you've got stuff you don't need or want anymore, you offer it, and if there's anything you do need or want you can ask for it! Obviously, this one is for people in and around Glasgow, but there seem to be groups all over the UK. There's also Freecycle, which is similar, but bigger, I think. You can get just about anything on this, from empty cardboard boxes and broken PCs to old cars and boats, and everything in between! It all has to be free, no money changes hands!
Get freesharing!

lol!
If it wasn't for the fact that my father can't work a computer then I'd think you were him in disguise, Ian!
"Charming businessman". Mmmm... Is that as in snake oil saleman or is there another kind?!

I like to think of myself as a modern capitalist ;p
Those friendly people that build hospitals and run software companies
Of course i'm not into software, I haven't got a programming bone in my body

Ok then, but don't mess with the freesharers!

Getting free stuff from freeshare might well be a boon for my ebay business.
I'm into selling second hand electronic gear, radios and stuff, atm.
Pm me if you wanna chat about such things

I'm involved with our version of this, Freecycle.
It's great... occasionally the list gets a bit annoying, with people asking for ridiculous things like "does anyone have a DVD player to give away?", and you have to be jolly quick to get the good stuff, but it's a great idea. The only things I've received was a consignment of canna lily bulbs which (pay attention Ian!) I gave to my Mum who grew them out in pots and sold them at markets.
I've given a lot of stuff away, though - mostly stuff that was lying around when I moved in: three old kids' bikes in bad repair, half a sheet of corrugated iron and a section of weldmesh fencing (both to a guy who was building a pigsty), three badly faded bamboo blinds (to a woman who took them apart and used them in a craft project) and a huge roll of badly water-damaged carpet underlay (no idea what they did with that.) Yeah, some of that stuff probably was worth a few bob, but it certainly wouldn't have been worth putting an ad in the paper for any of it - I was facing actually having to pay someone to come and take it to the dump, before I found people who'd not only come and take it for nothing, but do something useful with it when they did.
Ah yes freecycle.
Sometimes ya get very lucky on it lol.
