PDD-NOS is a separate diagnosis then Aspergers. There are five diagnosis'
Autistic disorder
PDD-NOS
Retts Disorder
Childhood disintegrative disorder
Aspergers
I know what you mean about doctors, I remember when my son was first diagnosed the doctor told me to talk to him in 2-3 word sentences so he could understand. Unfortunately I did so for a day or two and then thought about how condescending that would make me feel so I stopped.

All the classifications (PDD-NOS , autism, AS) can be described with mild, moderate or profound/severe .
