If I were rich, I'd take you up on that

The chick isn't alive when it's eaten.

That's perfectly respectable.

Never thought of that. Not exactly a pleasant thought. Maybe I should reconsider trying it...

I've tried durian. A local Vietnamese restaurant serves really good durian smoothies.

The smoothie didn't have much of a smell. I'm not sure about the durian itself, though. I also heard it smells terrible.

well, maybe durian is not too challenging...what about natto? anybody up for that?

ick no! My uncle ate a dish considered a delicacy. I forget what it was called but it was unborn lamb. I thought that sounded rather perverse. But I won't eat veal either.
Unborn lamb?

Janet, you've just given me nightmares. That said, I had dinner with friends who have traveled overseas for an important business meeting and they were served (if my memory is correct) such a dish but it was definately without the animal it originally came packaged in. The lady telling the story said that when it was placed before them, their host sat back beaming a smile that said "ENJOY". Clearly he thought he was giving them a real treat. I asked what on earth she did. She shrugged and said "we ate it".
Silky. I am crazy about your little poodle!!

A lot of the stuff about eating monkey brains is grounded in myth. The scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, for example, could never happen, due to the fact that Hindus venerate monkeys (in fact, India even temporarily banned the movie). Some people do eat monkeys and apes - for example, bonobos and smoked gorilla hands are a delicacy in the DRC - but monkey brain eating is pretty rare, IIRC.
