I used to collect wind-up clocks and ABBA cassettes and different shapes of post-it note.
I now collect sounds (i record them with a field recorder and save them on my computer). I like metallic sounds best at the moment.

I collect business cards (odd, I know) and old foreign currency (my oldest coin is from the 1830s, and is from Belgium, IIRC).

As a child I was like a magpie, used to collect all sorts of stuff, old coins, china horses, breyer model horses, elephant ornaments, books about animals, rocks and stones............
.........as an adult I still collect rocks and interesting looking stones, I love crystals too. Also collect jewellry, shiny stuff, and patchwork sequinned bags. I try to keep stuff down to a minimum though now, as I don't have the space and don't like feeling bogged down with posessions.

Interesting stones and the pieces of polished glass you get on the beach. As a child on a farm I collected old horseshoes and bits of broken china and crockery I found in the fields. Also have a notebook of "interesting plants observed in other people's gardens".
Had a go at collecting sounds last year with my mobile phone, but it was a bit footery and I kept pressing wrong buttons. Did manage to get sound of steam train - through fields, through tunnel, blowing whistle - and also the sea on a beach full of interesting pebbles!
