Full Version: Jenny McCarthy's Son Is Not Autistic

I have read many of the posts on this thread and it is so apparent that many people are blind to what is really going on with the "fight" for Autism. There is a huge bandwagon of selfish opportunistic morons that are preying on loving and caring people with autism and spectrum family members. There is so much money being bilked from legitimate charities and organizations by these lowlifes, like Jenny and Jim, that will never be used for us. I personally believe that Autism is the next evolution of human beings. We were put here to help advance the neurotypical by figuring out things they could never perceive. Now on to Jenny. This "female dog" had her son diagnosed by a doctor with "autism" to help her career. The original diagnosis was not autism by her son's first doctor but her and Jim's agents helped mold a new diagnosis by teller her what to say. Knowing that no one would come out and say, your full of SH*T, she went public as hell with her new found fluff show circuit topic. She also drug Jim Carrey, who coincidentally was returning to his career after laying low, into the deception by touting him as "The (F'ing) Autism Whisperer". Who knew Fire Marshall Bill was the cure? I guess that means Austin Powers should at least help. The guy may have been good with kids but he's no Autism Whisperer. Maybe having a man in the young boys life is what helped the most. She's a MI:F no doubt and I would hit it, but when you do what she did on Ellen, " I was driving down the street and I had (son's name) in the back seat and he says to me," Mommy, I used to be like Dory (from Finding Nemo) didn't I." And I lost it. I had to pull the car over because I just started to cry so hard because he used to be Autistic but we cured him with diet and ...... you've hit bottom. What Autistic kid do you know that could ever make the distinction of what is and isn't them being Autistic? This comment was obviously something someone had told him and he was just repeating it. Furthermore, why would that make you cry? Dory has memory problems, not Autism. The Angel Fish that chased the bubbles would be the most Autistic of them all but then again who knows his name? Or did her son have memory problems and that's why it hit her so hard? Either way she is a fake and fakes, when they are exposed, bring negative attention to our cause and that is good for nothing. S0 to you all that say anything that brings awareness to Autism is good know this: We're not the only ones that know she's full of it. Millions of people know. That's millions of people who now think twice before helping our cause because they feel they have to weed out the opportunistic thieves. They also assume that any cause without a NASCAR camera is a scam as well. We have to keep ourselves honest and this forum is the best way.

...you seem angry; I suggest taking deep breaths and see if you can't channel some of that into activism.  Yes, money is being wasted.  No, I don't really think autism is not an evolutionary step forward for humanity; just an expression of its diversity.  As for the Finding Nemo comment, actually I thought that was kinda cute and sounded like the kind of thing a kid would say.  Though nothing to cry about.

Also, some of our members are intimidated by huge blocks of text, myself included.  Paragraphs are your friends

       Don't worry about my activism.

You always think you're right too.

I think y'all are being a little harsh with Miss Jenny. You expect compassion and understanding for the point of view that autism is a personality type in no need of a cure, but have no empathy for an NT couple confronted with a child who won't look at them. Autism may not be a tragedy for the person with it, but it most certainly is for parents with no previous experience with it.

Granted, Jenny is a quack, but, in my opinion, a sincere and misguided one. I don't believe she's trying to use her son to further her career. There isn't a huge career path in Hollywood for ex-Playmate-mom's-of-autistics. As for why she would put personal things in her book. Um, a book by Jenny McCarthy consisting entirely of stories and theories about her son's autism doesn't have much market value. Cue the editor: "Jenny, you're an ex-Playmate. Wanna spice things up a bit?"

Another thing. We want her to perceive autism as a personality type. So she stumbles on AFF and reads the positive home page. Then dives in and is faced with "Jenny's son is not autistic", "She's a has-been trying to revive her career by exploiting her son", etc., etc. You're treating her as if she "knows what she's doing." She doesn't have a clue. She's just scared and wants her son to be "better" and knows she one of the few people who can get on Larry King and talk about it. She's not evil and she's not the enemy, she just needs some education from us.

Kene;

You are correct, in that a lot of people will not support anything but the mainstream charities.

The directors of Autism Speaks somehow manage to have salaries in the hundred thousands.

If you really want to make a difference?
dont just rant. perform a little...activism.

also, Paragraphs are your friends

Like I said before. Don't worry about MY activism. I'm a top earner consistently and that's all you need to know. I've earned my right to rant.
also, Paragraphs are your friend

aww, isnt that cute?

he's making poor personal attacks...d'aww...

seriously though. three posts, and two of them are attacking well known members of the community?

ah, well.

Better luck next time, ******.

Yet you feel the need to use implied sarcasm instead of engaging in normal conversation like, "Kenetoken, can you please break up your text?" Instead you want to show of your hyperlinking skills by repeating the same thing the person in the post before you said. Or is that the new cool  way to laugh and snub your nose at noobs in your forum?
Well you lost it first so I guess I win.

Yeah I did. You don't know me yet you feel the urge to "toy with me", in your own words, and then expect because you have some kind of stars and a few months of activity that I respect you. Then you post crude material and use offensive language on a board that is used by "people of all ages". Your own words again. Why don't you keep that in mind when you are name calling because you can't think of a more sophisticated phrase. I know you're really stretching for cut-downs when you go after Noob. It's indistinguishable for newbie no matter how you spell it. You are making yourself look as bad as me, a "newb". Thought you were all respected and stuff.

She tried to get a well known and respected doctor forcibly resigned for disagreeing with her, and for attempting to espouse the Genetics theory, and refuting the Vaccine theory.

No, she cannot be educated. she is a firm T3.

I confess I'm not very educated on the tried-to-get-the-doctor-fired part. I should just say I don't think she's trying to make money off her son and I think she is sincerely agrieved over his condition.

T3? Cool movie but otherwise I don't know what it means.

ehehe.

a few months?
I see you didnt lurk long. read my sig. then do some archive delving.

and no. no, you did not have any reason to attack A_P.

and Newb and Noob are very different. perhaps you should take a look at the wikipedia, or even the urban dictionary?

oh, and I dont "Think" that I am a respected member of this community. I know full damn well I am, from the mout...keyboards of various other members.

show me where I called you a noob, and I'll show you a fiddle made of gold.

I just registered yesterday! Big frikin' deal! That was you once too! I didn't say one word to you and then you want to come back with a 3 page definition of what a paragraph is, like I don't know. "Oh Im so glad Piinkawhatever lerned me on sum Anglish skeillz! Gawleee howaver wood I mayonage?" That's a very pretentious and arrogant thing to do. No doubt it now seems fitting for you. A quality you must hold dear.

ooh, snark.

you didnt say one word to me, this is true.
but as I said, we do get people here who dont know what a paragraph is.

you did, however, attack Alias, and that was out of line.(Alias can defend Alias)

at the point where I attacked, you had made 3 posts. one was...unreadable, one was attacking A_P, and the other was attacking me.

oh yeah, and I lurked for three months 'afore I joined.
so no, that was never me.

I'm going to ignore you now. Go back to Poke World.

I'm new here and to being aware I am an aspie. On the aspie-quiz I seem to score high on both the AS and NT side. Which side is the one that enjoys Pikas snark so much?:]

This has been an issue bothering me for a long time, especially since my own grandmother argued with me that a diet could cure Autism and that the vaccine gives it to people.

I would like to point out many factors that make me believe the whole thing is a sham:

She said that he still wasn't speaking at age 2 and having uncontrollable seizures and  went to the doctor and then he was diagnosed.

-Although not common, there are many children who can't speak at the age of 2, and according to my mum (who is an ER nurse and also believes she's fake) those could be attributed to other symptoms, of say a fever she didn't know about. There are children at two who can't speak and then pick up later. My Uncle for one didn't, and he's now getting a Master's degree in social work. Doesn't mean he's Autistic.

The biggest piece of *** in all of this is that she states by giving him this "magical diet" he can now speak again. Yes, he was diagnoses with Kanner's but all of a sudden he speaks again because of this diet.

This is why I can't stand her. It pisses me off every time I think about it. In my opinion (and some others) she is just using this to further her celebrity status because as we all know, its hard for a Playboy playmate to be well known other than Pamela Anderson. She's using it to make money, like writing books, appearing on shows and selling pictures of her and her son to magazines. This is only to benefit her financially since she didn't have much of a career.

Oh, and she announces everywhere that it was that proven false "vaccine theory" we love hearing about.

I think we need to call this moron out on everything she's doing, because her kid is not autistic, I can tell just by watching videos of him. Both my parents are in the medical field and very rarely do they agree with me but on this they did. This is complete BS.

It's weird how she blames vaccines but doesn't take into consideration that she popped out Jim Carrey's Kid.

My mom gave me the Jenny McCarthy book and it made me frustrated. I do not doubt she is genuine in her convictions and that her kid is really autistic. She's just mistaken in thinking all of her son's negative traits are caused by autism and his positive traits are a "cure." She ignores his strengths and laments his "weaknesses" throughout the book instead of seeing the whole picture. In one part of the book she gets all upset that he calls a stop sign an octagon, for example, since he doesn't understand the "concept" of a stop sign. How many 3 year olds know "octagon?" Knowing your shapes is just as reflective of intelligence as knowing your street signs, dammit! The truth is her kid is autistic and with some love, attention and treatment for medical discomforts (seizures, gastric distress, whatver...) he lo and behold is more comfortable and more able to communicate. Thus "cured" by societal standards, or rather the same as you or me or my Asperger's daughter, not the "rainman" stereotype society fears. If you've seen the kid on tv, it's clear that he's still autistic, just not rocking in a corner with no eye contact autistic. He's a happy, healthy autistic boy and not an uncommunicative, unhappy, "unreachable" one. We should not confuse health and happiness with a "cure" for a "disease"  but our society is prone to doing just that. I don't think she's lying she's just unfortunately very good at promoting her erroneously jumped to conclusions.
