I was just wondering if anyone can offer advice or their experiences. My son changed Speech therapists recently which I guess went over ok with him from what the school has told me. His teacher is expected to go on maternity leave in the next couple weeks. I was going to tell him about that so he can have advance notice to prepare himself for it. I'm not sure how that will go over for him.

Well, to top it off when I was picking up my son from school today his para (1:1 support person) told me she is leaving too although she is not sure when. I was hoping he would cope with the teacher leaving since he is with his para all day.  I'm fearful that they are both leaving at the same time. My son works really well with his para and I'm nervous it will be a problem.

I would appreciate any kind of advice on what I can say/do so my son will have an easy transition with this. If you wanted to share your experiences with something similar that would be great! Thanks in advance Smile
I bet there is an awful lot of need for paras if each autistic student is supposed to have one all day, wonder if I could become one. Smile Hope I would then be described better than how a local friend of mine described hers.
As far as I know (and I'm in the US) you need a Bachelors or Masters Degree. I was thinking of doing it. I have a Bachelors in Psychology. I'm waiting on the boys to be in school full days so I can go back to work.

There is a big need for paras though. I dont think all autistic students have one . My son just started with one this year.  I know sometimes they share one with another student. I guess it depends on how much they need one. My son loves his para and she adores him. I think I'll miss her as much as my son. I got rather attached to her Sad
