I'd like to make a note of the psychologist having misunderstood some of the parts I said during our conversation. The letter says I've had particular problems with friends in high school, where it should be elementary and middle school, and that I have been married for five years. As I type this up, I'll fix those mistakes, writing the correct information in brackets.

Regarding assessment at psychiatric clinic
[name], born [date]
[name] contacted us regarding problems associated with Asperger's Sydrome. She has not been diagnosed but experienced the symptomatic descriptions to fit her. She has had a hard childhood and felt different. She described herself as a quiet girl and felt that her difficulties were not noticed as she was in a class with a boy diagnosed with ADHD.

She is studying towards a bachelor's degree at the University of Stavanger and is doing fine academically. She is married and [they have been together for five years]. She has not had fixed friends and lived solitary. She was upset when we discussed this. She has lost friends through her life, and noticed this particularly [when she was in elementary school and middle school]. She couldn't follow normal conversations with her peers. She has had one friend and [name] tried to adapt to her, but did not manage the social aspect and they are not friends anymore. She feels she is better at express herself through writing than speech. She has some [internet contact] with people with Asperger's Syndrome.

Growing up she has had a big interest for [the cultural revolution] (when she was 12), an excessive interest for photography, crafts, etc. She says that over time she has had different interests and when these interests are sparked, she becomes overly focused on them. She also remembers using big words when speaking to others. She is very sensitive to sunlight and wears sunglasses during summer (this should be when I'm driving, pretty much all year). She does not like to be disturbed when she is concentrated and is unable to concentrate in noisy conditions. She does not like all types of fabrics and avoids specific fabrics as they can be uncomfortable to wears. She wonders why her parents did not react to her way of being when she was younger.

She profits from having structure and reacts a lot to change. She is confused when a lecture [or other appointments] are canceled or finds it hard if someone doesn't arrive precisely to appointments. She experiences that going out with friends is draws a lot of energy and this is hard for her and she needs time to "recharge".

The information given shows that [name] seems to have symptoms compatible with Asperger's Syndrome. If she is motivated for an assessment she should be referred to Stavanger University hospital for a thorough survey with regards to this diagnosis. [name] does not wish to have her mother coming along for the assessment.

If something is unclear, please contact the undersigned.

With kind regards
