My kids contracted chickenpox at a birthday partyabout four years ago.  If I had know that there was an infected child there I would have  kept them away.  Unfortunately we didn't know that they had been exposed to any disease and about a week later we went to dinner at friends and gave thier kid it too.  Luckily my youngest (and my friends kid) had been vaccinated and they didn't suffer too badly.  Evan my eldest hadn't been vaccinated (don't remember why not now) and he still has two LARGE scars on his chest from the first pox appearing as blisters.  My advice here is vaccinate your kids and keep them away from exposed people, its not always kids.
My covolunteer Jon got the chickenpox vaccine when he was five. When his family members had the chicken pox, he didn't. But at age 14, he got chicken pox. It lasted about 2 months.
chickenpox vaccine IS GIVEN in the UK.  My youngest was vaccinated.  It is optional. its called varicella.
It said in the text that was the actually proper name. But since i am asthmatic, i have the Flu jab. Every year it is diferent. So i get a different flu jab every year. And i haven't caught it yet. Or at least i don't think so.
I have got this big scar on where i had the BCG. I reacted a bit bad to that one.
Well i wished to have clear of my asthma, i really wold like to get rid of it. So who knows what i would be like with the flu.

Oh well wait till your 60 or so then you'll get it.
When you reach an age which i think is 60 you get given them for free like i do for asthma.
You know guys, with the flu-shot they are just guessing every year on which strain of flu will be around. And most of the time they are dead wrong. The flu shot is proven to be up to 95% ineffective (but very effective in lining the pockets of the manufacturers with money). Any year you didn't get the flu, you likely wouldn't have had it anyway, the flu shot had nothing to do with it. And 'research' that 'proves' that it works has been funded by the manufacturers or the government and actually proves nothing, since they have a vested interest in proving that it works. I only believe research done by people who have no financial gain from the product.

It's much more effective to strengthen your immune system, that way you ward of any disease coming your way. I have asthma, too. I wouldn't be caught dead getting the flu shot! When I feel symptoms of flu or cold coming on, I immediately drink echinacea tea, with 30 echinacea drops added and take echinacea pills as well. That gives my immune system a big boost (high doses of echinacea will boost your immune system by up to 50% within an hour). I also take about 2000 mg of vitamin C, 10000 iu of vitamin A, vitamin B complex and zinc. I repeat the above three times a day. Usually I will be fine by the next day.

The reason I got sick this time was, that my daughter brought her dog home for Easter, over two nights. I am severely allergic to that dog and got severe asthma, as well as many other allergic symptoms (burning eyes, stuffy nose, feeling ill all over). That brought my defenses down enough to catch the cold from one of the little boys I babysit, and led to bronchitis.

The flu shot has been shown to increase the likelihood of getting Alzheimers by up to 50% in old people who had it three years in a row. How much more likely will it be that people will get Alzheimers who have been getting it every year since they were young? It might be the reason for so many people in their forties getting Alzheimers these days! Only very old people used to get it.

The reason for that is, that they not only put mercury, but also aluminum into the flu shot. It accumulates in the brain (especially if your drinking water is fluoridated, since fluoride will bind with aluminum, so it can't be flushed out of your body by your system).
Those facts are a bit shocking. But how do you know it is all true? As i be the first to ask for myslef which i assume many others have asked.

Well, I'll ask my GP about that and see what she has to say about it next time i see her.
I was thinkning the same, So all these years, I have really been lucky!? Thats why i question the acuracy. Coz i aint got a clue what a Cold/Flu is really like.
Well, even nurses in doctor's offices have told me in confidence that they never had the flu before they got the flu shot, but when they got it, they were sick ALL WINTER with flu symptoms! And it wasn't just one nurse who told me that, it was three of them, in different offices. They got the flu from the shot, and felt rotten all winter.

I read a report from somebody who has a father in a nursing home. People in nursing homes need to have the doctor's permission to take vitamins (which is ridiculous), and are required to have the flu shot.

So, this lady got her dad's doctor's permission for him to take vitamins instead of getting the flu shot. In the spring every single person in the home got the flu, with the only exception of this man! And this is not such an unusual story.

So, Amy, while maybe you got lucky that somehow you got the right strain all these years to actually prevent you from getting the flu, you might want to contemplate the long-range damage you do to your body by taking these flu shots every year. You might want to try strengthening your immune system to ward off the flu, rather than playing Russian roulette by putting something into your body every year that has never been proven to be safe (no long-range studies on the safety of vaccines have ever been done).

And Boloop, asking your GP about the efficacy of vaccines is like asking the manufacturers of insect repellant if it's safe. Of course he will say it works, he is the one who wants you to get the flu shot to make money! Besides, he has been taught that these vaccines are safe and effective, and has likely never questioned that.
