I recall a month or so ago another poster came to the site with the idea of Mariah Carey having Asperger's Syndrome.  The reasons for this being her precocious musical gifts (sp. early brain development that would cause this) and a long period of bizarre behavior during a nervous breakdown.  Obviously it would be logical to assume that an Aspie overstressed by the social aspects of fame would be prone to nervous breakdowns in such an idiosyncratic way.  I now have found two new names to add to the list of Aspie celebrities.

After many hours of research, I have come to the conclusion that Britney Spears has Asperger's Syndrome.  The reasons being her precocious musical gifts--less her voice than her excellent dancing ability and coordination, would was considered prodigious at a young age.  Now, like Mariah Carey, she has been exhibiting bizarre and troubling behavior for a long time.  Recently she was taken to an institution against her will, and given a conservator.  It is believed that the overstimulation from excessive people contact (Aspies get overstimulated and break down from excessive social interaction) would cause this autistic breakdown for Ms. Spears, in addition to the stress incurred from losing custody to her kids.  But by and large, Ms. Spears has a long history of social problems.  She has used her "own world" of musical expression to counteract this, but no longer will this savant musical ability suffice as an outlet for expressing her feelings; not with the new pressures faced in the child custody battle and the increasingly watchful eye of the media.

Paris Hilton may also have Asperger's Syndrome.  The reason I believe so is the "remoteness" she exhibits in most of her interviews, as if she is occupied in some other (possibly autistic) realm.  Most of her answers are nervous and short, showing that she has a communication impediment which prevents her from acting naturally.  Ms. Hilton also has the common comorbid condition of ADHD, for which she has been medicated for many years.  Ms. Hilton also exhibits unusual gifts in modeling on the runway and a splinter skill in creating designer handbags.  She is known to take a lot of "inward postures" to wind down after excessive socializing, during which time she will spend hours repetitively constructing prototypes for new handbags.  This is one of her many specific interests, which come and go over time, according to sources close to Ms. Hilton.  Paris Hilton has hidden her Asperger's quite well, beneath the guise of a wealthy socialite.  But what we are not told about are the many behavioral interventions she underwent for her autistic spectrum disorder, which occurred until her mid-teens.  Since she has shown so much success in socializing, Paris Hilton may exhibit another savant skill in addition to modeling and designing:  social savantism.

I believe one day Britney Spears and Paris Hilton may reveal their diagnoses of Asperger's to the public, but that day, unfortunately, may not be soon.  I hope that Britney Spears is receiving proper treatment for her comorbid conditions of depression and social anxiety, at the moment.  It is hoped she will be able to re-learn the social skills lost in her current breakdown, and quickly.

britney, maybe.
paris, no. im not her psychologist, but id have to say definetly not.
"social savantism"?   thats a serious stretch.
A recent article about Britney revealed his mother was objecting to her present manager saying he was trying to control Britney's life too much.  I don't think she has Aspergers -- other issues depression and addictions maybe.

Paris always strikes me as flat in her presentation but I have noticed that about Jessica Simpson also.  But I can pretend to be animated, so why couldn't someone pretend to be guarded and uninterested as Paris does?
Jesus Christ.

Just...wow. *rolls eyes*

Maybe there needs to be a new diagnois - "little trollop with more money than sense syndrome".
Britney had bipolar disorder with a dual diagnosis of drug addiction, she ain't in hospital for social anxiety its for a manic episode.  I have bipolar and I can see identify with a lot of her behaviour esp in self destruct... I think bipolar share a lot of traits and is a common comorbid.  Not sure about Paris.  Not sure any of these have major talents, I have always thought of ozzy osbourne and his whole family being on the ASD/ADHD sprectrum?  Creativity often is seen with bipolar and the stress of being in the public eye and all the marriage divorce things/postnatal depression can trigger of a major breakdown with bipolar.  Hope Britney gets sorted.  For all the spectulation lets not forget this is a person who is gravely ill and needs help.

hahaha...AMEN to that

I don't think Hilton or Spears have AS in any way. shape, or form. Other conditions maybe (as mentioned above, Bipolar could be a possibility in Spears), but I don't see traits of AS in either of them.

I don't think she's as dumb as most people assume - she seems to have canny business sense - but as far as AS... no.

That's spot-on, and why I think she may have been mentioned in this thread in the first place. She has a reputation as a spoiled, dumb bimbo, but I think dumb is one thing that she is not. I've watched interviews with her, and underneath that plastic exterior I recognize some genuine intelligence there. This is in contrast to Nicole Richie, who doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed even in real life.

First, I wasn't trying to say that Paris Hilton was dumb.  If there is anywhere where I might have implied this, let me know.

Secondly, this whole thing was a joke.  I wanted to see if anyone would actually think I was being serious--writing "sarcasm above" or using smiley faces would have ruined the whole thing for me.  I'm sorry if I have deceived some of you...  in fact I thought some of the details I used to support the fake AS assertion, were somewhat humorous...  but I guess no one else thought so. Rolleyes

A couple people here said I'm half-decent at parody before, so thought I would try my hand at this.  I guess no one found it funny.  Although if people could potentially think I was being serious in saying these two have AS, perhaps I have succeeded in some small way..?

The eyerolling icon was uncalled for.  No, we couldn't read your mind.
I do not understand why everyone is pissed off.  I felt it was funny.  People tell me I have a gift for parody.  So... why not?

In scenarios like this one, where there is no "faux criticism" aimed at a specific member, smiley faces to indicate sarcasm are pointless. People--in real life--do not often tell you when they are sarcastic except perhaps if you ask them, or it's unveiled after the fact.  Kylo asked if this was a prank, and I admitted it.

I know you don't get context or tone of voice on the Internet, but this is my sense of humor.  I'm random and weird.  I just wish people could understand that.  Disclaimers would take the humor out of it.  I enjoy being confusing at times... so shoot me.  For example, an April Fools Joke in written form would be done in exactly the same way I wrote this... there would not be indication of sarcasm.
If you are writing something as a prank/satire, it is best to indicate you are doing so at least somewhere in the post because many people here (myself included) can't tell the difference. Nothing in the original post indicated that it was a joke, which is why this misunderstanding happened.

Disclaimers may take the humor out of it for you, but it makes it signficantly easier for other people to understand that you are not serious. Since we don't recognize that it's a joke in the first place, it's not funny to us, so adding a disclaimer can't do anything to make it less funny.
I think arnie is an aspie because he is austrian, and is man of iron ;p

LOL.

(I agree that people are being waaaay to hard on Britney Spears, though. How can she possibly get better with the way everyone is making fun of her all the time?)

That was more like the reaction I was looking for, thanks  Big Grin

God no wonder she's such a *** on "the simple life."

All is forgiven Paris :3
