Really cool thread - hadn't read it till today. Thanks for being.

We are human beings not human doings...
I think that - sorry more John lennon - Love is all there is.  Spirituality is a really important part of living (for some). My autie/aspie son is so nourished by his belief in a higher purpose and by the forgiveness and inclusiveness of religion (If religion is not inclusive for you - you are not doing it right...LOL).  This is the first year he has been in a non catholic school envirnment and he is suffering from it.  I am not making a moral judgement - though he is worried about some souls - but the way kids are growing up bereft of hope and compassion is a tragedy. We have had to tell him that not only can he not talk politics at school but no religion either.  He doesn't need another thing to draw negative attention to himself - he'd be called a freak - which he has heard - but to have him called a freak over his religion (not His religion -just that he feels he has a higher purpose)- he would be livid-- and really sad.  We are not raising a martyr - (he actually told some boys about 3 years older then him,  at a park last year, not to take the L*rds name in vain.  They then saw how it upset him and went to town, they called themselves atheists and pushed him and spit at him.  Anyway, didn't mena to digress, but the point is - other than that, if it weren't for his faith that Love conquers all and Light conquers darkness he would be very sad in spirit.
Mhmm I agree that everyone should be free to write the Creator's name however he/she is called without judgement.

I am Roman Catholic and my church believes that people with "special needs" (as it's worded: Exceptional) have a purpose (I've heard mostly that it's to show NTs how to love etc).

I didn't know that I had AS until this year...I've been told I was a reincarnated Buddhist monk...I was called one of God's Prophets by several people...I've had people come up to me and say they just feel blessed by my presence.

I don't know if any of this is true.  It's not for me to know.  But I do know...that like the rest of us...LF peeps are something special Smile
