The "diagnosis" question is, imo, offensive.

I'm "other".  Which I'm told to elaborate upon in my profile, but I don't see any place to do that.  Could someone give me a pointer, please?

And why is this piece of information required at all?  It's placement in the login process suggests that this is the most important information that a person can have on this board.  Is that really true?
Diagnosis information is not required.

If you do want to elaborate on the diagnosis category, you can do it by opening your user control panel and click on "Edit Profile".

I don't think it's absolutely necessary - the question gets asked because this is an autistic site, but if you select "other" and write "I'd prefer not to say" in your bio, I don't think it's a big deal.

Basically, it allows autistics and aspies to find other autistics and aspies, parents to find other parents, etc.

In "Bio:". It's a big text area near the bottom.

I'm confused.  In the section on second life details?  But I'm not in second life.
Well, first of all, welcome!
If you click on edit profile, you get a page with at the top 'required fields'. If you scroll down, to 'additional information' there are several parts to fill in there. You get to fill in : sex, second life first name, second life last name, location, and underneath location there's a bar with 'Bio:' it's a bigger area to fill in text, you can fill in anything you like and tell about yourself. Below this there's occupationa and interests, and then you're at the bottom of the page. You can also scroll down completely, and then it is the third bar from the bottom on the left to fill in. I hope this helped you.

Oops. Quite right CSI-Fan3. Forgot my manners. *blushes in shame*

WELCOME!

Lots of people on here leave most of the form info blank. (I'm not is Second Life either, so I left it blank. I don't even know what Second Life is.)

This may not be official, but my thought is, if you're not sure about something, leave it blank. You can always fill it in or edit it later.

I use the profile info to get a quick handle on where a poster might be coming from. The only other way to get that info - especially if you're new (like me) - is to read a couple hundred posts.

SO, relax and enjoy the site. No one is trying to extract any info out of you that you're not comfortable sharing - at least, that's never been my experience here.
