Does anyone believe that the A-spies should coexist peacefully with my 300, or engage in war?
I am anti-war by nature, but also inclusive. In a fantsy war and intrigue can spice things up a bit. Life can get dull without yen & yang. I also like it when both sides can drop their agendas like when they band together against another foe or simple take a break as in:

This kind of "fantasy" makes me feel like i'm reading a comic book rather than a forum to discuss quite serious issues (such as the actual threat of genocide). People already react with the "omg, they're all nuts" at the idea of an island or other small community, please don't give more fuel to the ones who have these views.
Gareth, I think AFF has taken on a life of its own (your baby has grown up!).
True to your original vision, "quite serious issues" are being discussed on various threads.
However, we also get together to chat, play, tease, make love AND war, and pholosophize.
Some people like to stick to a certain genre (and it sounds like you fall in that category), so they do.
I'll ask how people are promoting this: simple entertainment (in which case why is it not in timeout and why am I being requested to create a whole forum for it?) or something serious?

The amount of personal attack - makes this forum unhealthy and unsafe.
While I do enjoy serious discussions that bring in a variety of perspectives, I do not use AFF to bring negativity into my life. If anything, I use AFF to escape it.
I have not been personally attacked, but I have been negatively affected by reading personal attacks on others. It sadens me when people do this to each other.
I do wish people would edit these flames out before they post and apologise when they respond impulsively.
This tread is just for fun - I encourage those bent on negative engagement to return to the "gang" thread.
People on "both sides of the fence" are engaging in polarizing and insulting tactics and I concur that this aspect of AFF could be better moderated.
I encourage EVERYONE to take the high road.
