I for some reason don't like to vote, but something tells me that I would have voted for both 2 and 3. Tongue

According to Ziyaret, a previous member here who got banned because he made alot of debates that turned out to arguments, AFF has alot of overly politically correct youths.

AFF want to get rid of the idea that we are autistics who think of ourselves in any way superior to neurotypicals. We just want to be seen as different in a neutral sense.
I'm always getting into trouble for being politically incorrect.  I'm not into group think.  If a particular view makes sense, I'm more apt to adopt it.  If it doesn't, I won't.  The PC/PI temperament divide can happen in any group that is idealogically-focussed.
PC seems to be highly relative, the NAS (National Autistic Society) for example still give advice on their website that the terms "aspies", "autistics", or "auties" are all incredibly offensive and person-first terminology should be used instead. This is their own version of PC which is completely at odds with what actually does cause offence.
Also, I think if anything, NTs tend to be less politically correct than people with AS (that's at least what I've noticed on here).
I can't stand political correctness, for its own sake, its just a vicious disease that needs stamping out.
I think of AFF as one of the safest autism-related communities on the web. What binds the family together is that we view autism as something natural, many of the members have alot of knowledge of autism and know of personal experiences from others, so it is a great place to ask for help even if you're not committed to the site, but members are abit selective of what kind of behavior that's acceptable, partially because it is very connected to politics of autism and bad media attention could ruin neurodiversity-related causes.
No. I don't think Political Correctness is an NT disease. I think it does even have its place, although I do agree that it can be taken too far.

Great article!

I don't know exactly but generally, the line would be near the point where terms become convoluted rather than simple.
Language in general is messy and unpleasant (for me). I mean, gay can mean happy, and Indian can refer to someone from, you know, India. Doesn't mean that I'm unwilling to use them - just that it's annoying with such an imperfect language, used in exchanges with likewise imperfect beings, and having to process it all with my own imperfect brain.

Yuck. Why can't we just communicate with telepathy?
political correctness when taken to extremes can be like a disease to both aspies and Nt alike. Both groups are just as falliable as each other.
I'd certainly draw the line at expressions such as "differently-abled".
Well, why didn't she just say the "autism SLP (though what an SLP is I really don't know)? That would have obviated the need for any PC expressions. The reason for my intense dislike of terms like "differently-abled" is that "different" in our society is frequently used pejoratively to mean "inferior".

Plus, I'd like to know who they are kidding when they use that term instead of "disabled" or "impaired" when it is obvious the person they are talking about has a disability or an impairment.

If they want to emphasise that the person also has special talents all they need to do is say something like "Tommy is a very good writer" or "Suzy is clever at art" and not mention the wheelchair or the ADHD or whatever else.
The main problem I have with PC terms is

1. It can be quite condescending.
2. It can be quite a mouthful. Rolleyes

...I mean what kind of cerebrogenitally challenged (dickheaded) intellectually diminished (stupid / idiotic) hyper-masturbatory types (*******) come up with half this stuff anyway?
