Who likes it? who thrives on it?
Blade Runner, Final Fantasy 7, those William Gibson books, and even the original trilogy of Starwars, all examples of this genre.
I just love the...decay of it all, especially evident in FF7...random junk lieing about in the countryside, much like in Russia (lol) such as Corel Prison in FF7, mass grave after Shinra burnt the village down cuz they said no to a reactor, prison, junk yard...full of all sorts of junk that looks like it's just sat there for years.
I'm sick, I don't care.
I've seen em.
I'm not that fond of em, I like dystopia where civilization still exists..it's just a bit nasty lol, the funny thing is the ShinRa era in FF7 was apparently the golden age....crap before and crap afterwards lol.
They're good for what they are, especially considering there's no real budget.
Once I get Sim City Societies going I should be able to make my own shitholes lol.
Luckily, and indeed surprisingly, FF7 and Blade Runner are somewhat less brutal lol.
Fallout is post dystopia >.>
I'm sure they can pull their economy out of the mud.
We managed to.
We're really not doing THAT horribly.
...well, I don't think anyway.
Hell, Japan's in an economic recession, has been since 1990.
Doesn't much seem like it, does it?
Let the Ice Age come!
The ones who are prepared for it would probably dominate the world in the first period after it had begun.
However, most people would perish at the start.
Wouldn't it be cool to explore forgotten "under-ice" futuristic cities?
Luckily i'm hoping to help steer society away from dystopia, with my business ideas.
Luckily i'm hoping to help steer society away from dystopia, with my business ideas.
What business ideas???
Oh nothing concrete yet, i'm just honing my skills.
Put the sniper rifle down mate.
I don't think I can handle anymore headshots.
And for the record it's an Information Technology qualification

I think dystopias are getting a bit cliched; because it so easy to create conflict in a dystopian setting writers overuse the idea.
Then there was that world in War of The Chtorr.
forgive my nievaty, (and my spelling) but would the fifth element count as dystopia?
1984 made me paranoid scitzo. i read it 5 times. best book ever.
