with autism theories. I am getting annoyed. However there are two new theories below (autoimmune response and the Mom's psychological state during pregnancy) I haven't seen. What do people think? Is/was milk a problem for you? Do you think your Mom had the emotional state described during pregnancy?

This guy is also a health nut and just determined to find a non-genetic link to autism (imo). I mean he goes to real extremes, only eating sprouted beans, spending lots of money on colon cleansers, etc.

The last link he sent said something about Rh- women who had had the blood incompatibility shot before the second pregnancy having higher rates of having autistic kids (describes me). Now this article about the mother's emotional state. Well I do remember not letting myself become emotionally involved during the first trimester so if I miscarried it would hurt less. (This was after three years of infertility so you see my point)  But after a while I really bonded with the baby, plus I breastfed Hope for nearly 6 months. I have always felt closer in that way to Hope than to my first child whom I did not breast feed.
Sorry... are you meaning that you want him to stop sending you all this stuff or are you asking for other people's experiences?

I want to lay to rest for once all this talk about how milk alters brain cells, etc. Even if a milk protein attacked brain cells, the brain is so responsive and ever growing and it seems to me this would be short-lived at best.

The only (maybe) plausible theory in the whole bunch is the autoimmune response- the rest is tired, old bs imo.

BTW, I told him to stop sending me this pseudo-science! Sad

Well, if he's into all this guff like colon cleansing, he is officially a health nut. If you don't want him to send any more, best thing is to tell him straight out that you're not interested and find these things boring and far-fetched.
I had this shot during and after both my first and second pregnancies and only my youngest is on the spectrum. I also read an article pertaining to this "theory" . I do know the shot is made up of half mercury and upon research the brain is developing during the month of pregnancy in which they give the shot. You can ask for mercury free but I was not aware of any of this at the time. That is what I know on the matter so take it for what its worth.

I don't remember getting an Rh- shot when pregnant with Hope only getting one after giving birth to my first child, 6.5 years earlier. I would have to research it. If I did get it it wasn't in the first month I'm pretty sure!

It's hard to remember 17 years back! Sad
the refrigerator mother theory is not new.  It is stupid.

I am sick of people telling me that I should stop dairy products and all my problems with go away.  I stopped dairy for a while because of some other health problems and it made no difference to me.

If you don't want this person emails and he wouldn't stop just delete them without reading them every time.  It works and only takes a few seconds.
Ellen,
Actually if your child is 17 they most likely did it only afterbirth. Its fairly recent - not sure when - that they do it during pregnancy. Most people say for the pharmaceutical company to profit and I tend to agree. I guess they use to do the test during pregnancy only if there was a chance of blood exchange between mom and fetus. I didnt have any such possiblity but now its just done. I had mine at 28 weeks gestation and if you check online at 28 weeks the babies BRAIN is developing so makes no sense to me why its done at that time. Mercury afterall is a neurotoxin. However, like I said I had the shot with both my boys and only one is on the spectrum so I dont really think mercury causes autism but not positive either Wink

Couldnt agree more. I couldnt believe the person I know (who is only 19) thought it was still valid. I would expect someone older to hold that view since its outdated to say the least.  I was stunned that he believed it but some people are just stupid.

It's strange that this guy has bought lots of colon cleansers but still seems full of SH**.
