I had a random urge today to track down the first TV show I ever became obsessed with:

I remember getting chills down my spine every time I heard the opening scream...

For those that don't remember, "Chocky" is about a kid named Mathew with an imaginary friend - I can't tell you much more than that, as it would ruin the experience of the show.

The description above sounds fairly corny, but the show itself had quite a creepy vibe to it - it's very cerebral.

Enjoy!

I can't believe someone else remembers this one... yes, I had an obsession with it too.

Another one I haven't been able to find anything about, that I *barely* remember (except for knowing I had an obsession), is "The Third Eye."

Sensory impressions with AS are quite powerful...

I remember going through a stage of reading all the John Wyndeham's (sp?) books. I remember Chocky was one I enjoyed particularly.
I used to LOVE Chocky, and all John Wyndham books.

When I was little I read Day of the Triffids, Midwich Cuckoos, Chocky and Chrysalids. And loved them all. (Even though I did feel that he gives his characters too many long winded speeches, especially towards the end. Otherwise, can't fault the man's writing.)

Actually Day of the Triffids was the first adult book I ever read.

Watched Chocky and Triffids when I was little, and later Village of the Damned. All good. (except for the more modern production of Day of the Triffids -- where they changed the ending, which sucked.)

Also there is a sequel somewhere to Village of the Damned. Saw that recently too. It was mildly entertaining.
