Finally a cure for neurotypicalism.
Good thing it goes both ways. Hopefully this will allow Nts the opportunity to know how we feel.
That technique to make you "temporarily autistic" I saw on My Brilliant Brain on National Geographic. People who got it seemed to stop drawing with the usual abstract symbols representing horses and cars and instead tried to draw them realistically.

... and that's by the way something I've never managed to make others do however hard I try to explain them "A HUMAN ISNT JUST A CIRCLE WITH LINES STICKING OUT!!!".

Oh great.  We will have people running after us "Did you take your medication?"  except at tax time.
"Did you take your medication?"

No, did you?
You don't need a drug, you just need to practice the art of detachment as any good Buddhist would tell you.

I am working on this bigtime, esp. as regards certain annoying family members. I also try not to need people too much. I am just tired of it all, tired of people's pettiness, touchiness. It takes a lot of energy to deal with people now. And it's not all their fault: The world is just too intense right now, has too many problems. We are all exhausted, even the kids in their 20s I think.

My favorite saying right now is:

Paramahansa Yogananda: "It is not easy to be spiritual, but it is very easy if you will only follow a few rules. Begin by simplifying your life. Then remain somewhat apart from others. If you want to find God, don't mix too much socially. . . . Seclusion is the price of greatness."
Ahh... Brave New World. What will they come up with next? Talking mice?
How's autism super-human? I think it's more like a different kind of human. After all, there are things NTs do very well, too. If the NTs were in the minority, they would be the talented, unique ones... their social intuition may be common, but if you think about it, it's just as amazing as the autistic skillset. I mean, they can literally gain paragraphs worth of information from a split-second facial movement... how's that not amazing?

This one constantly makes NTs complain of autistic traits, I love it
If an autistic person took these drugs, could they control the internet with the power of thought alone? *grins*

Need to finish that work project, and wish you had the mental intensity to do it? Just take a synapse-regulating inhibitor, induce temporary autism, and you'll want to ignore your friends and do nothing but number-crunching for days.

I have AS but I couldn't finish a work project or "crunch numbers" if my life depended on it.  Why do these academic excellence/math proficiency stereotypes persist!?!

There are some people with AS who are horrible at these things.

3 letters:
BCI

Now, tell me an NT came up with them, and not an aspie geek Wink

Being serious - there's tons of drugs which can induce or enhance autistic traits. This one is nothing new.

Hello,

Very, very true, Callista, everyone has their own special talents, be it they are Asperger’s, Normal, or something entirely unmentioned here. People of any mindset can be considered “super-human” in ways both positive (Normal, Asperger’s, etc.), negative (Psychopaths, etc.), or somewhere in between.

Also, I do not like the way this article describes the symptoms of the new drug. It perpetuates too many Asperger’s/Autism stereotypes.
