When going home today just about an hour ago, while on the freeway, I saw a bunch of these bright, big lights in the sky. At first I saw only one, and I thought it was maybe a meteor getting unusually close, but it was slow, and twirled around. You could see a trail of sparks.

Then, one more appeared. They kept going out, only to be replaced by more. THen one was so close, I was thinking it was going to land on the highway ahead of us. At this point I was wondering if they were fragments of satellites or something. Then my mom suggested they were parachuters (It was about 6:00 p.m. here, and it's pretty dark).

It was really freaky, and very strange indeed.

good point

but  could it have been a dying star??

pssvr's suggestion was the funniest though! Big Grin

It didn't look at all like it could have been a dying star... it was very definitely in our atmosphere.

I wonder if I can find anything on YouTube? I should have taken pictures with my camera phone... It was happening for a while.
Contact MUFON if you don't think it can be described by natural phenomena.
