Janet,
I would think it would be an asset to work with children on the spectrum if your on it as well. As a matter of fact, locally we have a school that the direct care staff ALL have aspergers and I intend to enroll my son there when he meets the age requirement. I think that would be a great experience for the children to have you as a role model. Best wishes
