I want to. I do take my writing seriously and would go through heck and back just to improve it. But even if I never get published, I will keep writing.
HECK YES, but I don't think thats a realistic thing for me. I'd have to change all the names and then everything would just be wrong..
No/not sure, but I do have it nicely vinyl covered and organized for next of kin. I hope to do the same for Dad's professional work (Social Secretary Bulletin, Changing Times (Kiplinger before it was Kiplinger_______________) , something in college called This Is It so old it had Joseph Stalin on the cover and You're wrong Joe, dandruff don't move!)
I have been published already, actually, and plan to continue to be published, and make some money off of it, even if I can't make an entire living off of it. So far I have had poetry published, and a short story, but what I really want to do next is get my novel published. I have over 40,000 words (you will find before long that in the writing world, words, not pages, are most commonly used as a measure of length) so far, am aiming for about 50,000-60,000 (which is the length of a typical novel), and have roughly four chapters to go until the end. It's fantasy, which is my usual genre, and is probably most notable for its exceptionally twisty-turny plot line(s). I always have the most fun with plot lines and world building, leaving my characters a little underdeveloped. It's something I'm working on fixing.
Oh, yes. For those looking to get published, I strongly recommend this website:
http://www.duotrope.com/ It's kind of like a search engine for places to sell your work.
I'd love to be able to make a living off of something I enjoy. Especially if it's a pleasure for people to read.
I was published (poetry) at a young age in several small press horror magazines.
I would love to be published again, I'm craving it, but I feel lost. It's been ten years. Technology has changed. My life has changed. So much has changed. I've written some more poems this past month and have started a short story, but I can't seem to get the "magic" back.
And it seems all the magazines I used to read and get published in are no longer around. And everything is electronic. Gone are the days I guess of curling up on the couch with a good read. And that's the way I've always written as well. At that time I used to have a word processor with which I would transfer and print my writings. The word processor found an early grave, however, and I haven't kept up with the technology of the times (can't afford it...I'm still using the same dumb WebTV I got 8 years ago...which leads me unable to send electronic submissions).
All this trouble, when all I want to do is see my poetry in a magazine once again!
I do it occasionally for pleasure I am not nearly good enough.
I have a pretty big interest in script writing. I went to film school in 2000 and made two short films. After my wife and I had kids I had a break from it until about two years ago and then I started again, after coming across a screen writer’s website. In the past two years I've written five short scripts. I've really wanted to write a feature for quite awhile now but I just can't come up with an idea that inspires me enough to launch into a 3-6 month writing project on the one story. I read a great novel last year and I'm thinking about adapting that into a screenplay later this year. On one hand I'm keen to do it so I can have a feature length screenplay to my name, but on the other hand I wish I could come up with a totally original idea of my own. Anyway, adapting the novel will be good experience, because I’m a novice writer.
I've never thought about being published as realistic really... maybe one day though. I just write 'cause I enjoy it. The making a living thing from it is one of those far off in the distance, probably not realistic dreams.
I will love to have something published someday. I hope someday to turn my presentation into a book someday.
Yup! I want to write/publish an autobiography, some novels (probably science fiction and/or children's books), and short stories. Maybe some poetry. I'd like to write screenplays, and would like to direct a documentary.
I do like to also publish some poetry along with books about history and politics.
Actually I came very close a while back. I sent a synopsis and a couple of sample chapters to a publisher, and they asked to see the rest of the story. (They ended up saying no but I was pretty high on happy-vibes for a moment there.)
