I wonder if there's enough interest in this region to organize an event around here.

If you live around here and would be interested in attending such an event (likely a picnic, or some such gathering as that), then please, post here!
I'm not in that region, but I think it sounds like a good idea. Historically, we've been kind of lacking in events in the US(not quite sure why), but maybe we can change that this year.
I have heard that Irvine has a high concentration of autism diagnoses. I don't know if this would extend to the awareness of adult autistics, though. Irvine was where Autism Speaks held their walk on Saturday, 17 November 2007, so likely many of those parents of recently diagnosed kids have only received "information" from such sources as Autism SPeaks and the local news.

I would like to see if we can get something off the ground this year, though.
This is going to be WONDERFUL!
I'd be up to it.  I might have to wangle it with transportation and work schedules and all (seeing as I can't drive or anything, and I don't know what day that falls on), but it would be neat to meet some other people like me.  :3
I believe it is a Wednesday this year.

So, what kind of thing could we do? Picnic at a park or something?
So what kind of event/place might we be interested in? Irvine Park would be a good place, for a picnic type event.

Anyone have ideas on what location, activities, or other characteristics would be a mandatory or preferable thing? (like indoors vs. outdoors, activities you'd want available, what part of So. Cal., etc.)
