ok now i laugh when Autism Speaks found out how old i was they dropped all charges and said "Just use a differant theme" but i think i'm going to stop running it because part of the deal was that Autism Speaks owns the domain/and hosting for it. i dont want them to have control over a site that is Anti-Autism Speaks.

Well done for winning!

And yah boo sucks to the bullies for trying to strongarm an autistic child.

How can they try to bully you into handing over the site? Haven't they heard

Not sure what the usual traffic is on this site but there are more than 500 guests as I type this - most sent from Fark.com I presume...

Glad to hear the bullies have backed off - I suspect they know you would have support from around the world if they did not.......... Wink

And the Fark headline "Autism Speaks, a charity that claims to speak for autistic people sues 14-year-old autistic kid when she starts a parody website about autistic people being able to speak for themselves." made me chuckle then come over here...

Never ever let someone else push you around - and when the bullies push, let the world know - someone will step in to help...

Especially by an organization that spends $18 million on salaries, benefits, administration & fundraising to allocate $14 million in grants...  http://www.autismspeaks.org/docs/2006_AnnualReport_FINAL3.pdf

By the way, love your warped sense of humor in coming up with the banned website... Smile

Ususally when I'm on there are about 20-30 at most, often fewer than ten. At the moment there are over 200 guests!

WELCOME! E_A_C and all our guests, and thank you for kindly taking your time to read this!

M, I am inclined to believe it would, although I am no expert on law, particularly foreign law.

Parody is protected AFAIK under one of the american constitutional amendments, that does not stop people TRYING to force people to cease and desist, BUT, it stops them from being able to actually do anything about it legally, the intimidation tactics used against Abscout carried no legal force, at least, that is my understanding of the situation.

So, basically, thirty lawyers were bullying a fourteen-year-old.

you're forgetting the important word Tigger

they were bullying a fourteen year old ILLEGALLY

Sorry, I just thought that word redundant. Do you mean that there might be a way for thirty lawyers to bully a fourteen-year-old LEGALLY???!!!

Tigger, you make me laugh.
Thank you for being a role model for those of us (barely) younger than you.

It was probably another thread, but you (Tigger) wrote about your parents not considering you to be grown up, even though you are a grandparent, and that just resonated SO STRONGLY with me, not because of my parents per se, but because I have always described myself as being afflicted with "chronic youngestitis" as the youngest kid in my family.  You have reinforced my idea that autism is somewhat of a gift of youth, a fountain of youth if you will (or even if you won't!)

Why thank you, jewelie!

*Shyly accepts praise with utmost gratitude*

You are right, it must be the Aspieness rather than birth order because I am the eldest of four, and always thought I wasn't trusted to be 'grown-up enough' because of being the first-born. Rolleyes

My 5-years-younger sister had more freedom at sixteen than I had at twenty-one!
WOOHOO!

why does JB have to be like that? He talks about people having brain disorder. And let's say, for the sake of argument he is right (which I don't think he is).

He then says that should people with 'brain disorder' decide what is best for other people with 'brain disorder'. Well, actually, yes! I work with people with disabilities, as well as having my own disabilities and only the disabled can tell you what works best for them and their peers - a non disabled person, even if they have read numerous books, can never know what works best or understand the reality of day to day existence for a disabled person in a world that wasn't designed for them.

Why does JB hate us all so much? What did we ever, ever, ever do to him?
Would he make the same comments about people of a particular ethnicity or religion or sexuality? Why don't people (other than those of us here at AFF and simialr groups) get as outraged about this kind of discrimination as they do about racism?

Does anyone else or any other organisation use a jigsaw symbol for autism related stuff?

You mean like this?

Autism SA

Or this?

Autism Victoria

Or this?

Autism Association of Western Australia (Inc)

Or this?

Asperger Services Australia

Or this?

Aspect

And that is just for starters, in Australia!

I have an idea that ASSN in QLD also has a jigsaw puzzle piece in its logo but guess Autism Speaks (shite) wouldn't like the one with the blue puzzle piece with poop under it (even though it's very funny).

is it like my one?
