I did however find out about this situation on Fark.com, and actually, I sympathize with your plight and your cause.

Seriously, this has to be the most Ironic thing I've heard in years. I would find any way I could to fight this..
First thing you need to do though is tell your parents about this before they hear about it on the news. It's been Farked so I would suggest telling them right about now.

ok now i laugh when Autism Speaks found out how old i was they dropped all charges and said "Just use a differant theme" but i think i'm going to stop running it because part of the deal was that Autism Speaks owns the domain/and hosting for it. i dont want them to have control over a site that is Anti-Autism Speaks.

When you got Farked, this went out of anyone's control.
And honestly, I for one am glad for it.
I am tired of people claiming to be charaties and then stomping all over the people that they claim to represent.
Now, if I put up a site making fun of them, then that would be wrong, but when an autistic kid basicly says that he can speak for himself and doesn't need some group to tell him how to live his life, then dammit, that kid has a right to speak and a right to speak against a group that he has an issue with.
Don't back down from this kid, don't take any guff off of these people.

I wrote and asked Adam Pockriss, the public relations person for Autism Speaks, what it was all about. Here is Autism Speaks' official statement:
Autism Speaks, like every organization, is obliged to protect its name and trademark. The individual who used the Autism Speaks name and logo without permission was asked to desist, and he agreed to do so. Autism Speaks provides a valuable resource for families who have just received an autism diagnosis, for those individuals and families living with autism, and for the community at large interested in finding out more about the disorder, science, treatment and advocacy. If an improper use of our name or logo creates confusion among those we serve about the source of information they are seeking, it is a disservice to all.
I followed up by asking whether the person in question was, in fact, a 14-year old child with autism - and whether he was threatened with a lawsuit. In response, Adam replied "No, Autism Speaks did not threaten to sue."

You do realize they don't and won't release any information at all to you. For all they know you could be a media type. They want this to go away as it is greatly embarrassing. They will of course lie to cover themselves.

A strongly worded Cease and Desist letter containing threats of lawsuit could well look like a suit to a person who is not experienced in this kind of scare tactic. If the letter is a C&D and not a lawsuit (and I am only speculating) than it is unreasonable to suggest abscout was "lying." It would be no stretch to imagine a large firm of experienced attorneys crafting a C&Ds that read more like blackmail than "Please can you take this site down."

The official written response from Autism Speaks was "No, Autism Speaks did not threaten to sue."
Since a Cease & Desist letter is a threat to sue - Autism Speaks is lying if they sent a C&D letter...........
