Robert Crumb--ever seen the movie "Crumb"? See it. I'm most suspicious about his brother, Charles.
Harvey Pekar--seen "American Splendor"? Also a good friend of Robert Crumb.
Toby Radloff--the nerd in "American Splendor," and in real life (self-professed nerd.) By far, the most obvious to me. Might be more classically autistic than Aspergian, in some ways.
Any thoughts?
Seen American Splendor. Have thought about Pekar and Crumb as possible autistics. Haven't gone any further than that though.
Lately been thinking about Lars von Trier (the Danish movie director) as a possible spectrumite...

Has the same fear of flying that Stanley Kubrick once had... another possible AS
I'd like to mention, from what I recall of "American Splendor," I believe even Harvey Pekar's partner/wife Joyce (at least the character, if not the actual person) showed a lot of personality quirks consistent with AS.
A couple of filmy folk I suspect are One of Us:
Quentin Tarantino. There is no doubt in my mind that that dude is an aspie- his insane knowledge of movie/music/grindhouse trivia (and reported tendency to retreat for days to watch endless movies), coupled with his ritualistic enshrinement of that trivia into endlessly fetishistic movies suggests AS behaviour to me.
Martin Scorsese. Another guy who's disappeared into the movie matrix, with the same sort of encyclopedic knowledge. Quote from ex-girlfriend: "I would tell him about the dream I had, and he would tell me about the movie I he just watched." I rest my case. Plus, his movies are generally are about people who struggle to exceed their perceived limitations or otherwise transcend their circumstances and fail- which is the way I always framed my life before I got my diagnosis.
Which one of these guys should do the Orson Welles biopic?

I could see where you're coming from with this, but personally he strikes me as more characteristic of ADHD than Asperger's. A lot of folks with ADHD have very intense interests--having known a lot of ADHD folks myself, in my days. Although Tarantino is a very eccentric man, no doubt, the interviews I have seen of him suggest social fluency.

More a "perpetual student type" than an Aspergian (although the two often go together.)
I'd agree that something is definitely up with Robert Crumb, but don't know if it's AS. I saw that documentary about ten years ago, and that's all I know, but it was recommended to me by another likely Aspie, so there you have it. As I recall, his brother killed himself after that movie came out, and it seemed to me that his (the brother's) portrayal was, er, inappropriate, a hallmark of AS. And I thought the whole family of Robert, his wife, and their daughter was just OFF somehow. Maybe just eccentricity, maybe more.
