Even though there were male surrealists like Dali, I breifly heard that there were female artists that were also in the Surreal art movement.

I was wondering if anyone had any information on that. It sounds very interesting to me.

Lea Vergine mentions the following artists in her work L'altra metà dell avanguardia 1910-1940 (Milano 1980); The Other Half of the Avant Garde.

Romaine Brooks; Georgia O'Keeffe; Valentine Hugo; Kay Sage; Toyen; Eileen Agar; Nusch; Dora Maar Markovic; Milena Pavlovic Barilli; Jacqueline Lamba; Frida Kahlo; Meret Oppenheim; Remedios Varo; Leonora Carrington; Dorothea Tanning; Gisèle Prassinos; Valentine Penrose; Ithell Colquhon.

When I first looked through this book I only recognized the names of three of them (bolded). That could of course be because I never was such an admirer of the surrealists. I was more into the dadaists.
Was there any female surrealists that had work simular or beyond what Dali did?
