I think there have to be rules - people shouldn't just be able to say anything they like and then use 'it's a joke' as their defence.

Would they say the same things about someone of a different ethnicity or religion or someone who was a wheelchair user? And even if they did, many would be enraged by this.

I think we have just as much right to respect as ethnic minorities etc. and therefore action against articles like this needs to be taken.

Perhaps you could find out which country hosts the website and email the relevant department of their police?

It's kind of like a mild version ofthe hating autism blog. It's so stupid, even though it's extremely hateful it's not worth getting worked up about. People who would actually take these things seriously are not worth even paying attention to. It's like going to all the bullies from junior high and high school and shouting in front of everybody, "I am NOT a weenie! You're a fartface!" It doesn't help anything, and the cause isn't worthy.

Let's try to focus this energy toward increasing positive awareness. If you have a deviantart account, a Myspace, a Facebook, a blog, post something positive about autism. That's a lot more useful.

There's not anything to do about it, and it's not even worth it. Think about it: how is this directly harming you or other autistics? And getting it removed? How much good would that do? It's a worthless pursuit that people don't care about.

I was nice when I first joined

Yeah, reminds me of the story about the lonely brain cell.

Well, my theory is that the leader of the ED website must have been down to his last brain cell and it was starting to get lonely so he had to go out and find some other people with very low brain cell counts. Between them all, there might be just enough cells to make up one very small brain, say about the size of an ant's.

OK I have to take some of the blame for this. It was my article on Encyclopedia Dramatica that attracted Flardox's attention, and I guess we know the rest.

I'm going to say this in public now - Flardox, please leave ED alone. Don't edit there and don't say or do anything else in public. It's what they want. It's what they live for - it's their oxygen if you like. Ignore them, and they will go away. Making threats like hacking isn't a good idea either.

Don't get me wrong - I understand your anger, and I sympathise with it. The article on Aspergers on that site is garbage. Most of the site is garbage. It's for people with nothing else to do except make fun of the less fortunate. They are sick and twisted - but they are best ignored and not given the attention they crave.

I did my article in order to get closure on my personal views of their site and move on, and that is what I have done. My advice to you is to do the same - have a rant about them on your blog, say whatever you want to say about them, and then leave it at that. Kill their "lulz" by not giving them any to begin with. There are other ways of dealing with this, and continuing to edit there is quite honestly the wrong way.

For myself, my only concern is the creation of the article on my website. Not so much that it's there (and in it's present form it's actually passable - and it gave me a little chortle) but rather who created it and why. I don't hold Encyclopedia Dramatica responsible for that, becaue they have been used - and it looks like a couple of users over there picked that up, likely because they took the time to read the article on my Wiki that this article was in response to.

One more thing - the petition indeed won't work unless it has a target. I think I said that to Flardox before. Without a target to send the petition to, it can't work. Take the petition to get rid of "<Offensive blog that we don't want to promote> - Zakkie edit" for instance. THAT has a target (Google - the hosts of the blog). Who gets the petition against Encyclopedia Dramatica?

This is my first post for a long time here - but I'm not back just yet.

No doubt this lot is the same crew who brought us such incredibly useful inventions as the singlet with hip pockets, correction fluid for typing errors on the computer, and instant water (just add water).

Surely they'll eventually sink under the weight of their own stupidity?

It's a terrible site, i have a pretty good sense of humor, and i do laugh at my self a lot, but this site is all around hurtful and offensive. They may be free to say what they wish on that site and it is currently within their rights to keep it open, however people should also have the right to not be insulted and put down just so some one can get a few laughs. Then again, perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps its perfectly alright to hurt random people just to make one's self feel better(though, I'm pretty sure its not).
