I think there have to be rules - people shouldn't just be able to say anything they like and then use 'it's a joke' as their defence.
Would they say the same things about someone of a different ethnicity or religion or someone who was a wheelchair user? And even if they did, many would be enraged by this.
I think we have just as much right to respect as ethnic minorities etc. and therefore action against articles like this needs to be taken.
Perhaps you could find out which country hosts the website and email the relevant department of their police?

So, Flardox, what impact do you think you're going to have? You throw up a petition that gets 29 signatures, most being spam. Even if your petition was successful, then what? Where would you send it? A petition doesn't carry legal weight and cannot shut someone down in itself.
ED has taken on far bigger challengers. If the Church of Scientology can't bring them down, what hope is there for the short bus crowd?
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 aims to end the discrimination that many disabled people face. This Act has been significantly extended, including by the Disability Discrimination Act 2005. It now gives disabled people rights in the areas of:

* access to goods, facilities and services

It doesn't say anything about mocking Aspies online, does it? It only applies to the practices employers, government agencies and educators.

I suspect ED has a negative attitude towards Aspies because the majority of people creating internet drama claim to be diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. They use this disease to deflect criticism of their social tactlessness, and they aren't considerate of how they're affecting others with their extreme behaviours.

Anyway, I'd like to defend ED from these vile aspersions.
It may be fairly opaque to outsiders, but a great deal of the hate from the article actually derives from people who scream out, claiming that they have Asperger's Syndrome, and that it somehow excuses the terrible things that they've been saying. I may actually have lost track of the number of times that I've heard people sounding off with total sincerity against Muslims/gay people/<insert typical object of bigotry here>, and then, when, ahem, questioned about it (read:righteous deployment of the INTERNET HATE MACHINE), turn round and tell us 'how dare we criticise them, it's because they have Asperger's'. I'd actually say that such hijacking of what I know to be a SRS BSNS condition is actually disrespectful to some of you, who really have it, as well as many members of the Dramacracy that is ED. Surprisingly enough, ED, and the greater Anonymous that it is part of, sometimes does things out of a sense of moral outrage - it's just that its reactions are often neither proportionate nor specific.
What I cannot advise upon, however, is trying to mobilise against Encyclopedia Dramatica. Trying to hack (A BAD. FRICKIN'. IDEA.) the site, DDoSing it (as was threatened above - it's happened before, and we have a new server now), creating petitions (just lulz), are all bad ideas, and have been tried by many before.
As ocampo has said, don't rise to them, Flardox. These people serve only the lulz, and currently you're supplying them with it. Rise above it, prove them wrong, and you'll be free of them.

I'm genuinely interested. Also, I wouldn't exactly say that the way to respond to an *** is to immediately escalate the situation.
In either case I for one have actually found a few of these people on the interwebz who act like complete and total asses, then once people start getting mad at them they scream out "It's not my fault I have aspergers", and I can understand that if that is all you ever see of Aspergers why you'd get that impression.
Exactly - it's not all I see of Asperger's, but I cannot speak for the entirety of the userbase. Nonetheless, I think that the last point is off - the vast majority of EDiots, or at least the ones who 'get' the jokes (there are some who don't, but they are swiftly B& LOL), realise that this is Encyclopedia Dramatica; it is about the phenomenon of 'e-sperger's' (I apologise for the truly appalling neologism, but it's the best I can do on a short notice) that you describe.
So I guess arguing about it, or trying to hack onto the sight will only make things worse. I dunno, something like that.
Arguing in the way that is currently being done's not going to solve a thing; hacking's only an invite to escalation. I suppose that the best way to avoid it is simply ignoring them; laughing with them can work, but it's a little demeaning.

I'm not an admin, I'm afraid, and trying to remove it will be difficult, as flardox will have seen. There is a policy against dropping dox, but these aren't serious enough to count. Your best bet is probably to just wait a while, and then they'll forget it, I'm afraid. 
Still, it will be forgotten, in time.
Flar... seriously mate, just leave it. Live and let live; there's loads of stuff on the internet I hate, and for the most part, I just ignore it. The Internet is free for everyone to post whatever they want. They could be posting that kind of stuff here, in our haven, and they're not. I can totally see where you're coming from but when I google 'aspergers' its not a parody site I get coming up on the first page. People go to these parody sites for a million and one reasons - some do go because they're idiots who really believe whats up there, others go just to have a laugh. Until they start invading on our territory then leave them to do it in their own space away from us, and vice versa. They're coming here in response to your going there, and all you're doing is getting into a war of words for nothing. And getting yourself stressed for nothing. Not worth it!

At the end of the day, Flardox, you've got to take responsibility for your own posts. I've only seen one actually offensive post on this thread so far, and that was you telling this entirely reasonable poster to piss off. If it hadn't been responded to so many times, I probably would have deleted that one, rather than Desu's.
You've called out Encyclopedia Dramatica, and you can't now deny them the right of reply. That's the way it works.
