oh dear

have you managed to find out who?

Is the ian community the same as the ian research project? If so, they are linked with autism speaks??

Autism Speaks has a poll asking autistic adults if they want to be cured:

Let's all give them a resounding NO.

Had a look at the site and haven't found this particular poll, but found this *spits* on the pages about Asperger's.

Grrrr and double grrrr....

Like I've said before, I would like to be cured of this.

I want to have friends, I want to be normal. I don't like feeling anxious going to the hairdressers or to the dentist.

I don't like feeling upset by the slightest change in routine, and I don't like feeling hostile towards people I don't know and therefore scare me.

I don't want this.
about the above post, Wah~~~ that doesn't at all sound like an asbie?—— the last poster.
No siriously…… it doesn't Oo…… it’s really more like a caricature of Autism Speaks, then it is anything else,
i guess caricature of autism speaks is practically just a long word as far as I’m concerned so I do know a name for that.
as it sufices the necessary.
on topic, I think I voted no already.

as this is obviously a quote from Autism speak I have a message for this organisation.
Look Autism speaks we don't want your seudo science or your help, nor do we want the help of wich doctors we ain't normal and we don't need a cure for being a little different!
I speak for the majority of Asperger and Autistics and for myself when I say, go away for good and never come back with your pitiful, goals, in-fact we are much better of without organization like Autism speaks.

With reference to the above post, no, my aspies is NOT crippling. I have been able to do virtually anything a NT can do. I compensate for the disadvantages of social and other traits by use of my intellect. Which is my greatest strength.

The only real "crippling" part is LACK of ACCEPTANCE by others that I think in a very different way compared to an NT. And speak and interact differently as a side result. As such, some tasks that may take someone ages to accomplish I might have the gist of in a few minutes. Maybe that is seen as a threat or jealously. I just don't know. But I suspect so.
Ugh. I hate it when they depict us as dollars and statistics. I mean, it's dehumanizing. Check here for more details: h ttp://www.fightingautism.org/clock/. Remove the space and paste it in your address bar and you will be taken to a site that is highly intolerant. I hate it that we are not depicted as people with feelings. Sometimes, I wish I could immediately be transported to see the person who made that stupid thing so I could flip him/her off.
I tried going to it, but all I got was a PAGE NOT FOUND thing where I was expecting to find the poll. Am I doing something wrong or has that poll been taken down?
I went and found the poll. I'm only 15, but I voted anyway because every little bit helps. Besides, according to this mental age thing, I'm in my 30s. Big Grin

My mental age was my 30's when I was a teen.  Now that I have kids I'm down to probably 25, and getting younger every day!
I don't want to have to sign up on autism specks (spelled wrong an purpose) and have never gone there.

I don't want them to ever have me on any of their lists, and what good would the vote do?  (Sorry, they could have the software that the US had in their vorintg machines....when Gore got minus 16,000 votes.... joking of course...).

Sorry, but the link in the original post didn't work for me!

RE: Obnoxious curebie poll

I'm much less concerned about the poll than I am about their plans to use this:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/

I didn't find any problem with this body.

The reason the poster is concerned is because it's a charity website and we don't really need people giving money to get rid of people like us. That money would be better spent on social services for autistics and other stuff.
