I've read that some people on here had a hard time during their teens, so I thought I would post a poll to find out whether most people preferred being in their teens or their twenties.

I'm currently 23 years old (24 next month), and I think that overall, I'm happier being in my twenties than when I was a teenager.

I was lucky in that I was never bullied at high school (there were one or two isolated incidents of teasing, but nothing serious), so my teenage years weren't all that bad.  I enjoyed studying at school and then college/university.  One of the things I did prefer about being in my teens was that I could see my friends a lot more often than I do now - I used to see my friends every day at high school, but now we're older we all have different jobs so we don't get to see each other so much.

The worst things about being in my teens included being forced to do things I didn't want to do - such as PE, sports and drama at school.  Also, there was a constant worry in the back of my mind about what I was going to do when I left school, and worrying about my exams.  I never had problems with revising/studying; fortunately I've always been good at retaining information, but I was worried that something would go wrong at the last minute - for example, suddenly being sick during an exam and not being able to complete it.  Thankfully nothing like that ever happened to me.  The exams at university were a lot more pressurised though, and I'm glad I don't have to do those any more now that I've graduated.

The best things about being in my twenties are that I've grown in confidence and I have my own job, doing the things I enjoy.  Also, everyone in my immediate family seems happier than they were 5 or 10 years ago.  I also like the fact that technology has improved a lot, for example broadband internet, digital TV etc, so it's easier to keep in contact with the outside world.  During my twenties I have also taken up new hobbies such as cookery, photography and going for walks in the countryside.

This is why I'm happier now than when I was in my teens. However, one the annoying things about being in your twenties is that people expect you to act like an adult and they sometimes ask annoying questions like "Are you going to learn to drive? Are you going to get your own home? Do you have a boyfriend?" I'm not really interested in any of those things.
I didn't really have to worry about as much when I was a teen compared to now, but for the most part I'm more happy being in my twenties.

Prefer my thirties to my twenties and twenties to my teens
In terms of overall happiness with my life, 40s and 50s have been best, although my late 20s and late 30s were pretty darn cool and interesting.  Teenage was by far the worst, followed by early 20s, followed by mid-30s.
