Rossco - Second Life CAN be escapism, as it can be used for games. It can also be used for any other use you can imagine. Personally i'm excited about building the new web in 3D form using very similar systems to SL. Personally, I rarely go on these days other than for meetings/discussions.

The incident is being misrepresented badly, if you view the alleged stolen items the original creator tag is still set, thus it was not stolen - it was copied from a lawfully purchased item that the creator set the "next owner can copy/transfer" flags on. To steal an item in SL requires copying it client side and this assigns a new creator tag to the item. It is simply not possible to copy an item in SL without the owner's consent while retaining the creator tag.
Furthermore, I have seen the logs where the threat of boycott came only after Laynie showed her clear intent to not listen.
Only after Laynie actually filed an abuse report for harrassment which resulted in a temporary ban that was subsequently overturned on appeal did this escalate as it has now. The way in which Laynie is misrepresenting this incident as "fanatic stole my stuff and gave it away without explanation" and then pledging to donate MORE to autism speaks as a result in my view makes her fully deserving of further boycotts.
Please do not "aid the enemy" by apologising to laynie for a legitimate form of protest. I will also mention how everyone in the major autistic groups inworld was banned from several stores including AFF.

I have finally given in and posted my comments on laynie's blog. I will also later today be contacting LL regarding the mass ban and looking into legal remedies. The fact people have been donating more to autism speaks because autistics have shown their dislike in a legitimate form of protest means that these people are in my view open for any legal form of protest. The emphasis as always is LEGAL. I will admit that recently I ended up ranting at a few autism speaks supporters as this whole issue is starting to massively piss me off. I encourage everyone else to refrain from the same mistake.
We've already seen the real world become covered with all this curebie propaganda, SL used to be a place you could for the most part wander around freely without seeing a single curebie unless you brought up the subject with someone. I hope we can prevent the virtual world from becoming another place we can't freely wander round without seeing open hate speech against us, especially given how many fellow autistics helped build the thing. Should things in SL get too bad, my own soon-to-launch competitor will be there and I will ensure the same does not happen there (excuse any obvious bias here, it is vastly preferable if we can save SL, do not hijack this thread with questions about my own competing world and PM if you're curious).

Personally I would not buy any products from a store that supports autism speaks. Rather than simply not donate to them, by shopping in such a place you are enabling them to donate a certain % of their profits (that is the usual way businesses do it when supporting a charity in a big way).
