A few weeks ago, I eliminated some surge suppressors in my computer setup so as to eliminate "daisy chains" of surge suppressors in series, which I hear can actually amplify a power surge instead of suppress it. All the surge protection is now at the UPS, and any power strips connected to that are just power strips.
There's still one more way for a power surge to get in... through the coaxial cable into the cable modem. I've got the TV a few feet away from the desk, along with its surge suppressor which has unused cable connections. (Note: the cable service is currently just for internet. I didn't even feel like paying for basic TV channels, otherwise those cable connections on the surge suppressor would already be in use.) I was thinking I might run the TV cable to that surge suppressor, and then another cable out of that to the cable modem.
Here's the question. Will a cable-TV surge suppressor interfere with the internet signal in any way?
