Thank you. I have signed.

McPherson I am upset that NYU are distorting the truth about ASD and ADHD. If such advertising would be regarded as offensive if it concerned racial differences, then it is offensive when it is about neurological differences.

As have I - it's up to 139! Not only is it impressive that the list doubled in ten hours, but I got a nice tripling number into the bargain... *grins*

152 now....Big Grin

Signed.

I totally agree with Ari, these ads do no good for us

Whether it is one or both ganging up on me, it really sucks.
Really.
I am really not sure.
Asperger?
Makes sense.  But I haven't met enough Asperger women to establish a pattern of "being locked on to their radar", merely met enough average NT women to establish a pattern of NOT "being locked on to their radar"

Obesity?
That makes sense too.  It may not apply to Asperger women, however.

Maybe they both sense?  How so?

I do not believe in life with Asperger at ANY PRICE.  Practically speaking, I insist on bare minimums: friends, employment, and in  later life, love.

Just because you would not commit suicide (for the sake of a god or for God) for a life short of one or more of these does not mean you suffer emotionally for lack of them, wish for more, and/or wish to die.

Who wrote, "I don't care what they say I won't live in a world without love?"
I also recall from a textbook, "the two biggest human needs are to work and love"

Not to sound rude.
But Obesity is something you can change. Or work on. You can stop being obese but you can't stop being autistic. And use them as exuses to not finding suitable women is really getting on my nerves GuessWho. In almost in every post you have to bring back something about the fact your overweight and looking for woman to marry.

I know you are lonely and I've stated before that you need to celebrate your bachelor-hood. But you refuse my advice. I'm not the most qualified person I know. I am only child, a girl of 21 one. I don't have years upon years of experiance. But I do have plenty of years of self-pity and blaming my looks, my personality and even my AS for the reason I don't have a job, a good house or the fact that my relationship with my parents sucks donkey tits. I'm still learning not to do that anymore and really advocate myself.

Again I'll say it again GuessWho as a friend. Celebrate the fact you don't have a ball and chain tied to you. (Not that marriage is bad at all LOL I'm engaged duh) Work hard on your job. And set some strong goals. Maybe one can be to work were you can adopt a child, maybe an AS boy or girl. Show them the love of God (note I am not a Christian Accaully I'm interested in druidry but I know GuessWho is Quaker) show them that AS can be really cool part of themselves.

Or if adopting is too unrealistic. GuessWho! Be a mentor! Seriously work with Rec center and mentor some kids. I've learned alot about myself through mentoring and working with children. Just do whatever brings you joy man thats. Thats all I'm saying. I'm trying to be a friend here. Constantly searching over something that hurts so much and erodding something so fragile as self-esteem is not going to help at all. It's only going to continue to wear you down. Trust me I know.

Don't look for love GuessWho, It will find you. I didn't look for it all (if you want to believe I was very asexual as a young teen) and it found me (like lighting bolt POW!) Instead want to loved. Go and love!

I'm sorry if I am reading everything wrong I really am, but thats what I am picking up from you posts D:

A World Without Love

I don't care what they say
I won't stay in a world without love

Please lock me away
And don't allow the day
Here inside, where I hide with my loneliness
I don't care what they say, I won't stay
In a world without love

Birds sing out of tune
And rain clouds hide the moon
I'm OK, here I stay with my loneliness
I don't care what they say, I won't stay
In a world without love

So I wait, and in a while
I will see my true love smile
She may come, I know not when
When she does, I'll lose
So baby until then

Lock me away
And don't allow the day
Here inside, where I hide with my loneliness
I don't care what they say, I won't stay
In a world without love

(Please lock me away)

What I really wonder is what advertising firm produced those despicable ads...

Link broken by moi, notable quote:

" The "Ransom Notes" campaign was produced pro bono by BBDO. Its public service ads appear in kiosks and bulletin spaces across New York City, thanks to space donated by Van Wagner, as well as in participating publications.

Also, here, via PDF, in more detail:

The god-awful attribution of lame graphic design/concepts and a generally un-researched and 'cliche' bad, bad, bad advertising... here:

http://www.bbdo. com/

If I wasn't so mad I'd send an email to everyone on their contact list, it seems they have a contact page for every one of the worldwide locations... grr... but we all know how smart I sound when I'm mad...
Just re-read the petition, they had the firm's info... duh.
I might send them a nice e-mail sarah...
Hello,

"I am a pre-teen with Asperger's Syndrome. These ads are disgusting."

A quick summary of what I first thought upon seeing these advertisements. Glad to see so many signatures in so little time!
