I'm thinking about learning to draw comics. With realistic look-alike pictures that is. Currently I stumbled upon this About site for learning to draw comics so I'll probably look around in that one.

I'm not really sure how to learn to draw comics. Something tells me that I have to go where people learn Manga.
I like the idea of a science-fiction comic with an interesting autistic community.
'ey ppl!
What if there was a "forum" where each post had to be a comic strip?
... or maybe just a thread somewhere.
I've found it interesting to look at comics and see how they did different things. For comics I've temporarily concluded (am unsure) that people use... ummm....
*dictionary*
It says "tusjpenn - marker", the Google English/English dictionary can't come up with a description that match, and the norwegian word "tusjpenn" is really two words binded together. "Indian Ink Pen".
Anyway, I'm actually used to ordinary pencils, and find these new tools challanging. I used a "tusjpenn" on the earlier picture in this forum Biomed Kid

This site is pretty useful. Also Scott McCloud's "Making Comics". I am still working to make a comic, but I've still got a while before I can reach the level of skill that I need. Will yours feature the devil character or a different one?
I'll definitely look around in that polykarbon site. I might be more on deviant art later.
Attempt on self-portrait with "tusjpenn" where I've first sketched my face, then used the "tusjpenn", then erased away the sketching and then added the grey tones you see in the picture now.
I'm trying to make a self-portrait AV in a comic-like style drawing. I don't think I'll use it on AFF, but I'm dreaming about using a such AV with the nickname "Charlemagne" at the norwegian autistic community website I'm dreaming about making - but it seems like I "don't have time" for it right now and don't have the motivation to "make time" as constantly active people call it. I'm probably going to use this pic I show now as new AV on the current norwegian autism board though.
Norwegian board only accepts 75px * 75px images so I couldn't take the whole pic as that would require me to minimize it even more which would destroy the pic. I figured I should have a less chaotic background image this time.
Changed my mind apparently.
Thanks!
It is by the way me who have drawn my sig and AV. Apparently there's alot of people who haven't realized that.
You're a very talented artist erkolos; I remember seeing another self portrait you posted which was also excellent.
I’m sure you’d be great at drawing comics.
A science-fiction comic would work well. Have you thought anything about what storyline you might use?
I had a go at trying to draw comics during my teens--but wasn’t very successful. At university I turned my revision notes into an comic storyboard and used it to revise for an exam.
At the beginning of the exam (to avoid any chance of cheating) we were asked to bring any notes to the front. I folded them in half and put them with everyone else’s. However during the exam the notes ‘unfolded themselves’ and the lecturer was able to see my comic notes (complete with bright colours, weird characters and strange storylines).
At the end of the exam I was too embarrassed to claim my notes--and just left the room. The next day rumours started circulating that someone had left some weird drawings/revision notes in the exam room. The day after a group email was sent telling whoever had left to notes that they could be reclaimed in the departmental office--but I was too embarrassed.

Finally another email was sent saying that the notes could be found in a certain member of staffs ‘pigeon hole’--and could be reclaimed discretely (I swiped them back when nobody was around).

I'm trying to figure out what kinds of things I want to have in the story. What I want the autistic community to be like would be:
• Extremely structured and organised
• A very complex community with different aspects
• I like big areas where you will see the same thing in long rows. So there will be giant libraries with long rows of bookshelves and other things that can be giant in a similar fashion.
• Interesting manners of education, a great variety of different methods.
• Alot of focus on new ways to express oneself through interactive technology - ex. from the real world: Facilitated Communication, it would be cool with "low functioning" autistics who through some kind of facilitated communication organize complex things.
It might be abit subtle that there's a high percentage of autistics in this community which is supposedly autism friendly. There could be an underground (secret agency) autistic community related to it.
I've not thought much about characters.
Maybe the comic could just be showing the fantasy about this autistic community, without a storyline?
I don't want fights against "curebies" or anything propoganda like. That would make it look like the cartoon you see when you search "North Korean animation" on YouTube. If there were to be a conflict it would probably be against something that pretty much everyone related to autism would think of as bad.
Well you could have autistic characters without mentioning it.
