I loved the book - now a film is coming, and the trailers make it look awesome. Cool

There is a very good website about the film, and it has a section where you can make your own Dæmon. I thought that the questions were a bit Aspie-Quiz-like, but there are only twenty of them! Smile

What is yours? Big Grin

Yes, yes...I loved the book; and can’t wait to see the film.

In fact I thought all three books in the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy were fantastic.

But the UK version of the book did have a different title ‘Northern Lights’

We have the UK version. In fact, in the same edition as your picture. Actually, since my last post, we have just lent the trilogy to a friend of the boys.

We now all have Dæmons:

My husband:

Me:

Sonic Boom:

I'm quite upset with the film - they stripped the religious themes out of it and cut off the last 3 chapters of the book. I suspect that the ending they do use will enable them to give an excuse not to do the sequels (in which there is no story without the religious themes).

Oh, have you seen it already? I thought it wasn't coming out until Friday.

I presume this'll work...my Daemons some Tiger one..   Suidan: "shy, dependable, modest, assertive and proud"

And what kind of creature? Do tell.....Big Grin

And I'm glad Flardox got a gibbon - I was wondering out looud with my twins whether anyone would get an ape or a monkey!

Emmy, the curiosity is driving me insane! Please, what kind of creature is Eamon? A bird? Mammal? Dragon? Help!

pikajedi4: another cat! And with the same name as my husband's fox... Weird!  Cool Big Grin

Emmy, did it look like this?

Thanks for the website address we had lots of fun doing it, i'm the honeybee, my hubby is a mouse, my 11yr old is a crow and my 14yr old is a snow goose (he was not impressed at all). I have had to write the address in my youngests home/school book so that he can make all of his classmates find theirs. I think i sense an obsession coming on

You are most welcome! I have sent the link to my daughter too, so I hope to find out what my grandchildren get! Big Grin

Tell your 14yr old that he can re-try the test if he doesn't like it! My twin sons are 14 and were perfectly happy with their first choices, though.

I nice, harmless obsession is a womderful thing. Especially if you can find a small plastic crow in a toy shop for him to carry in his pocket. I found that my most aspie boy liked to carry a little plastic cat in his pocket when he was younger. Just being able to touch it when he was upset at school seemed to help a little, so he was thrilled when his Dæmon turned out to be a cat!

Wow! A Lynx! Yet another cat - that popular saying, that NTs are dog people and we are cat people, must be more accurate than I thought!

It took me a fair while (well over a year) to get through all three books. I read for about 15 minutes every day (about 3-5 pages).

Oh my! Sad You poor thing! I now realise just how weird I am. I read at the rate of about a page a minute. I can finish a book (or more) an evening. However, at the end of it, having thoroughly enjoyed being completely immersed in the experience, I start to 'lose the plot', literally. Within a few days I have forgotten the names of most of the characters. Within a year I can re-read a book and I will recognise it as I read, but won't remember what happens next.

Seriously fast processing, rotten long term memory. Rather like a palm top.....

It says you are flexible - shouldn't you post this on the 'double-jointed' thread?! Tongue
Oh, an osprey would be much better suited to the wilds of Scotland than a chimp! Wink
I took the test three times, I kept getting the stupid mouse one. Everyone got cool sounding ones... and I got the mouse... oh boy.. and it's name is Laefe.
