I had to teach myself to listen to those ‘feelings of unease’ you get in the pit of your stomach; the feelings that tell us who to trust and who not to trust.
I still tend to ‘wear my heart on my sleeve’ and am very open with people.
But I’ve learnt only to share ‘a confidence’ or personal information with those people who has proved themselves trustworthy over a period of time.
I think as a group aspies tend to be more honest than average--but of course this is open to abuse by unscrupulous, devious and dodgy people.

I consider myelf to be pretty trusting and naïve, even around people I do not know (a lot of people seem to be confused this).

I've always been sort of paranoid.

I've always slipped up when I didn't listen to my instincts regarding a person. They (my instincts) may have no obvious reason for them but when I've put reason before instinct - the castle all falls down - humpty dumpty gets broke etc.... and now I just think that the results of extra good pattern recognition don't always come with a flow diagram attached.

I'm generally pretty trusting and it's usually worked out fine. But yeah, trust any intuitions you have.

Yeah, and the same goes for situations. If they don't feel right, they probably aren't, and not listening to my gut feelings has led to trouble.

I'm both trusty and paranoid. I can be horribly wrong both ways. Be paranoid when there's no rhyme or reason to be so except for that odd hunch or lingering insecurity; and vice versa, step right into trouble with eyes open. The paranoia is from when I was young and I got things thrown back at me that were either said in some kind of confidence or as a joke or for telling the truth.

I'm very trusting, but have been let down by many & taken advantage of.
Now I mainly stick with those who I have learned are trustworthy but I still get caught on the hop by people new to me.

I'm pretty paranoid I guess, but I quite often trust people too. Though that's very confusing, because I'm like 'well, I feel like I should trust him/her, but somehow I also feel I shouldn't', But I don't wear my heart on my sleeve at all.

Deeply paranoid. Anyone who breaks my trust never gets it again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I tend to alternate between being either overly trusting because I don't have the ability to see when someone is manipulating me. Or, if someone behaves in a way that makes me concerned about their motives, I suddenly revoke all trust. I seem to only do extremes.

Yeah, I'm pretty much like that too.
