I don't play anything right now but I'd love to be able to run the CD with Warcraft III which I've lost. I don't know why exactly it is Warcraft that I want to play so badly, but it might be the irony of being aware that I don't have an idea where I could have put that damn disc!
Kingdom Hearts II. *cough* Like that's not obvious.

I really should get to playing KHI and FFXII soon, though...

... Maybe after I beat KHII. XD /procrastinator
I've just finished loading my custom disk of Guitar hero.   In about 15 minutes, I'll be playing Fury of the Storm by Dragonforce, Home by Dream Theater, and various other immensely fun songs.   Yay!
I am currently playing Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles for PSP.  Awesome game but be warned it is hard.
Ha, I'm now on my second replay of Fable: The Lost Chapters, the XBOX version.  I love this game, as you have free roam of the world, for the most part, and can do as you will.   Even cooler is seeing how your decisions affect your appearance, expressions, and even some of the spells you can use!
Morrowind and Oblivion, are they for PC, and what are the specs Required to play them?

I've actually been wanting to play these for a while now, and I'm getting paid for this catering thing I did today (not fun), so whatever's left over after I buy this router, is sort of up in the air.
Hah, I'll be getting Morrowing for my XBOX.  I'll be getting Oblivion relatively soon as well, too (hopefully)  and as I'm putting in an order for a desktop on thursday, it'll have close to top notch.   (Core 2 duo processor, 3 GB of RAM (I think it's 3, might be 2), and I'm not sure about the video card, but I can always replace it if necessary Big Grin
*wince*

ok, Dell for home over there? very expensive. monsterously so. without going over that budget, and without trawling that poorly designed site (cant find the customise options), the best card that I can find in a machine under a grand is a 2400....thats last last gen. but as you said, you can always whack a better one in Wink

looking at a couple of sites, the new 4870 seems to be about $200, whilst the 3870 (the card I have) seems to be about $115-$140. the new nVidia 9800s are $400+, whilst the 8800 series vary from $140-180....why are the 8800GT's priced higher than the 3870, when the 3870 is faster...?
ha! good point.

when it comes to cards, the choice between ATi and nVidia is often like discussing religion.

but yeah, there isnt much point in getting more than 3325mb of RAM (correct me if I am wrong, please, anyone; I have 4GB of Corsair 800MHz stuff, the Mobo sees it, Vista can't address more than that) unless you get a 64bit OS...but that will lead to compatibility issues, at least with older hardware; a moot point here.

its odd; over here, Dell is either damn nigh on, or cheaper, than building a computer; over there, it's WAY more expensive!
one word; Heat.

next to me, on the desk, are three computers; an old dell; beat up, no side, functional. right next to me, my computer. below it, on the floor, my cousins computer.

my cousins computer is essentially identical to mine, bar the case, motherboard and PSU. however, mine has a better airflow, so its colder, so it can run at a higher speed. the case you moved the parts to probably just had a better airflow, or a better conduction due to the materials of construction.

correct me if I am wrong; I have only one experience with linux, and it was horrible (would NOT work. installed, all working, but the GUI? naaa. and then it wouldnt re-install as just a CLI. so now that box is bricked.), but are ATi not opening up some of their drivers?
I tried;

Fedora Core 6
Ubuntu 6.something and 7.04? something along those lines. I'm not at home now, so I cant get up and grab the disc and check the label.
Debian
FreeBSD

all I wanted was a server for me to dump my games, media and misc. files to.

oh, and all of them identified my radeon 9k as a 9100. switched down to a Matrox Mystequie (hell YEAH!), tried going to bare essentials, nothing. since I tried removing Ubuntu and putting one of the others on (at Gareth's recommendation) I just get a GRUB load error 21.
eh...at some point I'll go back, wipe it, and try again. the machine I DLed the ISOs with, and burned the discs with? turned out that the first stick of RAM in the first slot in channel 0? it was fried. so...maybe I should have checked the hash. but nevermind. I'll try again at some point, but I just CBF right now. that and that machine is in East Sussex, but I'm on the other side of Essex right now.
yeah, that machine I tried to turn server? my old machine....Athlon 2200+, Radeon 9000, 120GB HDD, 80GB HDD, 2GB RAM, plus that Matrox card in a PCI slot. dual heads ftw Wink but obviously I stripped it down, to singles and bare essentials. I have a 486DX machine around someplace, still works, 256mb HDD, F-ing HUUUGE motherboard.

Ouch, you could always try one of the windows emergency boot floppys....that Might give you access to the Format.exe command, but you'd then have to be familiar with Fdisk, and partitioning, using a command prompt thing.   otherwise, I don't see a way you could at least wipe it out to use windows or something.

I missed that.

I have an old 95 one about some place, and I am familiar with the CLI...at least, in the windows environment. IIRC, the XP disc has the Fdisk utility on; if not, I can boot from a flash drive.
