My number one special interest is storytelling. Storytelling in general, either by novel, graphic novel, television show, movie, or anything else you can think of...

There are so many sites where people talk about their favorite anime, or favorite books, or favorite TV live-action dramas... I was very saddened when I couldn't find anywhere where people could talk about all of the above...

So... what are your favorite stories, and why do you like them? Here are but a few of mine...

Triangle Heart - Apparently, it started out as a Japanese videogame, then was made into an OVA. I've seen the OVA once, and I didn't really like anything about it but the cool action. But what I do like about Triangle Heart was the spinoff anime series, Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. "Nanoha" is about a nine-year-old girl who - surprise, surprise - discovers she is a mage. There are three series, but I haven't seen the last one yet... Sad Um, the art is really pretty and stuff, and the story gets pretty emotional. The show, from what I've seen, is aimed at little girls, but some themes are pretty mature.

Pocket Monsters - I can not get over my love for Pokemon. I have loved Pokemon for years and years and years. It started when my brother rented Crystal Version from BlockBuster one day. I played it only a few times, and I was hooked. Before I knew it, I was waking up every morning at six thirty to watch the anime (which is a big deal for me, I never wake up on time), spending my money on the cards, drawing Misty on my homework, and singing the songs from the soundtrack at school. What I like most about Pokemon, though, is what the writers don't include. I love being able to fill in those gaps, and exploring another world. I'm sure many of you know this, but the creator of Pokemon is an Aspie. If you look closely, the Pokemon world could very well be a reversal of our world - out of a hundred Pokemon game characters, only one won't seem like an Aspie. I can't help but wonder if Tajiri Satoshi, consciously or unconsciously, wanted to create a world where he and people like him could be themselves. If he did, I think a part of me recognized it, and that's how I became so intrigued with Pokemon...

Yuugi Ou - Ummm... well, I just had to mention Yuugi Ou, after all the childhood memories it created. I used to watch the anime every day on Kids! WB after Pokemon. But I don't like it any more. I got some of the manga one day and just... ohmigosh, that killed it. I don't understand how it could become so popular. There is absolutely zero characterization and plot plausibility. The characters are puppets and the entire universe is a dollhouse. Every single time I read it, it makes me want to slam my head into a wall. And Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is literally unwatchable to me. But... still... the memories... me and my brother playing with the cards, acting all serious like they do in the show... and anyway, it seems like something an Aspie would like, what with all the puzzles and cool strategies...

Umm... well, that's all I'm gonna post for now... anyway, what about you guys?
All right. Sounds like a good idea, this. And should turn out great if lots of people post.

So many to choose from, but... A couple of my favourite stories are:

Kaguyahime: A japanese folk tale in which an old man finds a baby in a shoot of bamboo. He takes her home and raises her, and she grows up to be very beautiful. Until one day he finds her crying, and she says that she is really a princess from the Moon and she was sent to Earth because of a war on her home, and now she must return. So she does return, and the old couple never see her again.

Miss Saigon: (the musical) Because it's as close to a perfectly rendered tragedy as I've ever seen. So much of the outcome is based on what if... And if anything had gone a little differently along the way, it might have had a happy ending.
Final Fantasy VII is one of my favorite stories. I don't read fiction books, so I don't know of too many written stories.
Not quite sure were to draw the line between liking a story of a work of fiction and liking the way it is told. As far as children's stories go, I'm a big fan of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, and you might also count the HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy books. FF7 had a cool story, as did Chrono Trigger. Most RPGs do, but unfortunately due to my attention span I haven't played any for years.

Big Grin Me too!! I liked the movie when I was little (even though I hated the TV show...), but didn't really think about it once I got older. Then my mom made me audition for the play. I got the role of the March Hare, and then after reading the script I was like, "What the heck is this?? o__0 IT'S AWESOME!!" So yah, I got both books from the library. I love them. They make me laugh my head off. :3

Loveless is a fanfic set during FF7 but from Shinra's perspective ;p

it's named after a play popular in Midgar, lol.
I don't know much about Final Fantasy, really. ^^'
