I had a job interview for a care position, I did very well in the questions (feed back from HR), met all essential criteria plus a lot of extra's too, but did not get the job because they unwilling to provide reasonable adjustments (mainly a planned structure to shift patterns to allow for some routine in my life ... it came up that I need a day off for regular therapy (councelling session followed by creative writing class and later a sign language class).  I was met with some negativety about this in the interview.  First time I dislosed my autism, maybe the last.  I spoke to my CBT therapist she thinks because I am so high functioning it may not be neccessary, as I obvioulsy managed to get jobs before.  Still need to explain my sickness record, in terms of anxiety/depression/bipolar?  In future I will be a normal person with a mental health issue controlled by meds?
Unfortunately, every company can't adjust its schedules after all its employees' needs. Good luck next time Smile

This particular company had a request rota system, it was the same system that I had where I worked before that is a cop out of course it can be done they used it as an excuse.  The issue is that the kind of rota's they are introducing in care is to save money, staff are pissed and if one gets some help for a life-work balance the rest get annoyed.  I may as well work an agency job, but I need continuity arse.

They usually can if they really want to.

thankyou, this is where the DDA law sucks if you are job hunting, hence I am going to have to play down the disability and see if that helps me get a job, or just return to college to be a social worker.

No, they can't, if they want to remain in the game and aren't receiving substantial funding for that purpose.

Note: I wrote all its employees. In a company with hundreds or thousands of employees, you're going to get conflicts between those employees' needs, and between the employees' needs and the company's needs.

For instance, a hospital may not be able to let people off without working long hours, because it cannot afford to without having people dying for it. I'm sure you can make up lots of examples of your own.

But anyway, I'm not trying to say it's ideal, only true. I said it was unfortunate, and wished Fruitcake good luck in finding more fortunate workplaces.
