I heard about this on the news the other day... I agree, it's completely ridiculous. In fact, I'm suprised this situation is taking place in Australia instead of the US.

I wonder if whoever created this policy actually made an effort to get women's opinions on the issue.
I heard on Radio Active where they joked about that one. They tried to come up with an alternative, first it was this woman who tried "hi hi hi", but that was scary because it reminded people of witches. The other one was a man with "ha ha ha", but that sounded like vampire.

Maybe ridiculous, but definitely hilarious!
That's downright stupit! Owls say "ho ho" - Jultomten says, "Hallå Hallå i stugan! Finns det några snälla barn här?" (Hello Hello in the cottage! Are there any kind children here?)
Only the black santa says "ho ho ho" nowerdays.

I know that's a generalization, but what are YOU going to do about it? Tongue
Besides, "whoring oneself out" is the oldest profession ;p
I've yet to figure how "ho ho ho" can be offensive to women.
I suppose you know some people also don't like "the three little pigs" as it offends Muslims, and "baa baa black sheep" as it's apparently racist towards Africans.

WTF Tongue

the perfect example of political correctness gone to absoulte stupid levels

I also think calling Christmas Parties "Holiday Parties" is political correctness gone mad and I have two words to say to such inanity: "Bah Humbug!".
Bah my Mum's Asian Consultant bosses all celebrate Christmas ;p

Why? because they live in the UNITED KINGDOM.

You know people..progressive!
Meh, i've been called that before.

It didn't hurt then and it won't now ;p

Psh... I don't see anything wrong with being open and understanding to the fact that not everyone celebrates Christmas... A few years back there was this really wierd backwards slide in polical correctness in the US and people were going on the news making bafoons out of themselves saying things like, "If you don't say Merry Christmas its just not right! It's unamerican!" but we all know how over the top we americans get... Wink  I made a point to tell everyone that said, "merry christmas" to me, "happy holidays"  I like polical correctness, you know, established rulse of behavior and all...

The whole Santa thing still gives me the creeps. The sets they set up at the mall are always horrible with the cotton snow and plastic reindeer. My oldest finally didn't scream on his lap last year when she was four...  I kept hoping that it would be the year previous. Smile As a parent I don't like the whole obnoxious marketing thing of Christmas... such a pain.

We have a Santa with a real beard in our local shopping centre. He grows his beard especially for Christmas every year. One can tell it is a real beard because it is creamy coloured instead of the opaque white of a cotton wool beard. I have some pictures of my daughters and my niece with this Santa.

Holiday party means nothing because there are holidays at different times of the year.

Yule is cool.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yule

Jölföðr (Yule-father) and Jölnir (Yule) are names of Odin. Odin was the original "Alf" or gift-giving "Elf" ( Julesvenn in Denmark, Jultomten in Sweden, and Julenissen in Norway).
