I've only read here post for today, "We need a prenatal screening process without a bias toward abortion," but she seems to be one of the good guys.

So I start a thread with an extra "e" on the word "her."  *sigh*
It's becoming clearer that there's more variation among human genomes than folks might have imagined and it's not obvious what it all means for susceptibilities to diseases, conditions, or whatever. There's no such thing as a perfect genome. Complicating the issue more, envirnomental factors interplay with genetic variation, making it hard to predict outcomes.  There's this concept called "penetrance"--where, say, even with predisposing genes for a disease, not everyon with these genes actually gets sick, or there might be degrees of severity.
